Katana increased damage bug

Basically, if you use one Heavy Attack then the first light attack immediately following does 60 base damage plus bleed. It should only be doing 25 damage plus bleed, so it’s incredibly unbalanced. It also seems to effect all subsequent attacks when alternating from heavy attacks to light attacks.

Further testing seems to indicate that alternating from light to heavy also increases damage.

It appears that current melee damage is added to the next attack as long as you alternate between heavy and light attacks or vice versa.

It would appear that ive been doing this unintentionally, I use the heavy attack to close the distance and a light after 🤔

Is it consistent issue that doesnt reset gonna new map and is it the same class or all of them

It worked for us on hunter, Viking, samurai, and Valkyrie. I think it’s just the katana on all classes. It has something to do with alternating between heavy and light attacks.

I would not worry about changing your tactics. Illfonic just needs to step up and fix stuff like this.

School I’m confused, why dont you increase health of ft by alot in order to test stuff out?
Wouldnt it be better than having to restart after you down ft?

I like to test things on classic hunt to ensure that we aren’t accidentally influencing our results. However, we found this glitch late last night so we had limited time to test, and, in our second test, we actually did use 200% health. For the videos, I only used the footage from classic hunt mode.

I only say it cause if I was testing I cant imagine constantly loading in and out lmao.

Yeah. We used Clash for testing most of the time, for the instant respawns. It’s not too bad with the Hunt loading times though, because my brother has a PS5 and I have an SSD.

That’s all I ever felt I needed to do with it, even before the specializations added to the game.

Same with the alpha sickle.

There’s little to no challenge with these weapons.

We wouldn’t have even looked into this but we were confused, because one of our teammates, a support player with full health, died really quickly and looking at the recording, it just didn’t look right. This explains how some of the predator players out there using Valkyrie - ghost or Viking with Fearless and adrenal boost are not survivable in a one on one situation. Doesn’t matter if you’re Dutch, Dante, or support or if you have thick skin, you just get wiped immediately.

I agree, I have given up the vast majority of 1 v 1s these days against these preds.

Leave very little room for FT to be able to get away.

Guess the pred mains are happy.

Sometimes feel OP as said preds.

But this topic of conversation will dive into madness and people calling you a “main” of some kind.

Ha. Yes. It’s like politics. That’s why I stick to talking about particular weapons or perks/specializations. Too much emotion with Fireteam vs Predator balance.

This might explain how i two shot a support with the katana. I was Samurai with ghost and fearless. Cloaked then struck him with a heavy and light and he was down. Then took the rest out in three hits without being in cloak. Always gone with the heavy, light, heavy combo to take people down so quickly.

This is the glitch I was talking about. Maybe you didn’t use it. Maybe you used it by accident. Many predators knowingly or unknowingly alternate between heavy and light attacks and it stacks the damage from the previous hit.

I had no idea this existed. I’ve always alternated between light and heavy attacks with the katana 🤷‍♀️

I don’t think this has always been glitched. Probably was introduced with predator specializations.
