Katana isn't optimal for fighting good teams

So, I’ve been winning a lot of matches with the katana against noob teams that aren’t very coordinated.

Today I went up against a 4 pc player squad (2 dutch, 2 support) and they were inseparable. They covered each other very well and lit me up whenever I got close to them. The katana is way too slow and the tracking is really bad which gives the fireteam ample opportunity to shoot you. I did manage down one of them with the bow but I couldn’t claim him because they protected him really well. I dealt a lot of damage against them but it felt like they had so many healing items that whatever damage I dealt was irrelevant against them. In the end, I killed one of them and the other three escaped in the chopper.

Has anyone had any luck beating a 4 player PC squad with the Samurai class or Katana weapon?

Advice. Dont claim. Spam plasma canon shot until the down FT is dead. Good FT are to be taken with extreme seriousness and brutality.dont claim them.kill them all on sigth

I know, I tried to shoot arrows at the guy’s body but his teammates were dealing so much damage that I had to jump out and go heal.

The Katana seems weak but I promise it isn’t. Unfortunately the game is turning into a “who has more health” type meta. FT are becoming increasingly support/Dutch stacks because with OWLF Training and increased melee because Predators are relying on melee. It’s all tactics. If I see a support heavy or Dutch heavy team I groan because I know it’s going to be a knife party with room camping.

Set traps outside the door and smoke them out with the plasma cannon or bow. THEY’RE racing the clock. Not you. The Katana is fucking great when you aren’t going against a FT full of cheese.

The team I faced didn’t really camp that much, they were out in the open but they covered each other really well. My aim was kinda off in that match too.

Yeah, the katana is actually a lot of fun to use and I can kill other teams pretty easily with it but I don’t see it as a viable option against tough PC teams. In my opinion, melee weapons are completely useless against PC teams.

You nailed it but i’m pretty sure even ps4 players will parry you now and are able to shoot at a close range predator.

Did you try the plasma caster usually sends ppl scattering or maybe a slam?

I’m not that great with the plasma caster, I did get some shots on them with it but it didn’t seem to phase them. I don’t even bother using a slam on a good team anymore because it leaves you too vulnerable.

I run scout so i rarely melee…these tactics work for me

Cool, I run hunter and I rarely melee unless I’m going for a quick wristblade slash.

Yeah why do you have to do the same amount of damage to a downed enemy to kill them as to down them

I think it’s to keep things balanced. It wouldn’t be fair if I could kill the downed enemy with one arrow. In evolve it took a bit of damage to kill a downed hunter.

This team was just good at guarding their teammate’s body.

Yea but with the help of my disc does that count? Also yes just with the sword but it’s a lot more stressful because of rushing
