Keep Randoms Invested in Every Match

It may be too late to implement a huge change, but the player base seems to be shrinking and a new way to play might bring in a much larger casual player base.

Reinforcements Reworked

  • remove interaction with reinforcement radio
  • enable all radio locations during Hunt
  • Dead Fireteam players automatically reinforce in 3 minutes, with a maximum of four reinforcements at 3, 6, 9, & 12 min.
  • location is random, but is still marked for Predator and remaining Fireteam player(s).
  • IMPORTANT: gear and ammunition are NOT replenished by reinforcement.

Why Change?

  • players will continue to feel invested in the match knowing that they are guaranteed to return in under three minutes
  • players will be incentivized to continue playing the entire match, because they are guaranteed to return throughout the 15 min hunt
  • players will no longer feel hopeless if they are the last player standing, and still have much of the mission left to complete
  • if reinforcements no longer replenish gear and ammo, the hunt will truly become a war of attrition that can be fought over the full 15 min

I would support this IF and ONLY IF Preds got a 50% damage reduction from all FT firearms for that type of match.

I think some Fireteam weapons are just overpowered, but most of the balance is all messed up.

FIRETEAM
Weapons that need a significant nerf

  • Sawz50
  • Grimtech19 (lower firerate cap)
  • 1011-12 (lower firerate cap)

Weapons that need a minor nerf

  • AR-W
  • Hammerhead
  • NRV-E
  • Frag grenade

Weapons that need a minor buff

  • OWLF Rifle
  • Plasma Prototype Rifle
  • EBR-Z
  • D34-D
  • DJL-33

With the most powerful weapons significantly nerfed, it would be more feasible for skilled predator players to deal significant damage to the Fireteam without losing all of their health too quickly.

I think this would be better as a new game mode called revive hunt or something.

This will only be fair if pred can come back too.
But like @Dutch1 this seems like it would be better for a new mode.

That would miss the point.

The Predator’s mission is to collect trophies. If they die, they’ve failed.

The Fireteam‘s mission is to complete the mission. They essentially already have two waves, so my suggestion is to simply add more waves and make them automatic. most importantly, reinforcements should not replenish resources, resulting in the fireteam becoming weaker throughout the hunt.

The game is clearly dying, and I’m just attempting to help correct one of the major flaws in gameplay.

But if fireteam comeback then how does pred win?

You’re just overthinking it. It’s the same system. If all four players are killed at any point, the fireteam loses and predator wins. Otherwise, the predator wins by preventing the fireteam from completing the mission within 15 minutes.

I quite often encounter randoms who either do not know or do not care about the reinforcement radio. If you are FT and you sacrificed yourself to give a teammate time to get to the reinforcement radio, this indeed can be very annoying…

It is the same with people leaving immediately after their first death.

There might be several better solutions than the chosen one, but in the end, all that kind of stuff could simply be avoided by a better matchmaking system.

Sometimes you encounter just potatoes and sometimes you just encounter top tiers - and you even do not know before… Playing with both extremes is neither sensible nor fun yet :)

Illfonic never has shown interest in such stuff. They seem to just love nerfing/buffing things constantly instead…

Think about the handheld plasma caster - at the beginning it was strong, then it was nerfed significantly and now it is strong again.

The thing with that is… How does Pred get his recouperation? In Evolve, if Hunters were down to one Hunter and they evaded the Monster, the Monster would be able to eat to restore armor or attack the power relay if they were stage 3. It wasn’t much, but it made a difference in a pinch. Hunters auto-reinforced in 2:00, timer started as soon as a Hunter died. They also had a 30 second animation to go through when reinforced. Halo jumping from the dropship.

Any ideas?

Actually, the pistol was weak,
then they buffed the damage,
then they Nerfed the fire rate, and
finally they significantly buffed the damage.

Oh. So Evolve basically already had this system. How did the monster in evolve win the match?

The question is, whether the people coming into the match via reinforcement need to be the very same, as those who died before.

If people leave, let them leave and just feed some new players into the match via reinforcement.

If the predator was able to kill nearly all FTs, he obviously does not need anything. If you encounter 4 potatoes which you can easily kill in some minutes, it would be nice if they get stronger in the second half - does not matter by which means - right?

It would probably take too much encoding at this point, but what I believe would even out the matchup would be a drop ship that the predator could return to and restore gear and health.

Funny idea, but we both know, that the development of Predator already is shut down, right?.. Give us back Backwater at Day first please…

The whole point in why I am recommending this is so that players don’t leave matches. Also, it’s important with this system that reinforcement does not re-supply gear so that the fire team continues to become weaker the longer the hunt continues.

This is were I disagree - a FT which has been killed once already does not need to be nerfed but buffed then…

Kill all four of the Hunters or evolve to stage three and destroy the power relay. Destroying the power relay meant either the hunters are hiding or negligent. Destroying the relay is an animation that is initiated by holding the attack button on it and takes… About 45 seconds total? Give or take. You cannot touch the relay if you have taken damage in the last 3 seconds and the animation will cancel if you take any damage. Damage done to the relay is saved and does not regeneration nor deteriorate
