Killers review request
itās good
ending is amazing
Nice, i started reading your review then had to stop lol was very tempting to keep goin tho. I did see the part about naru so prolly ang shot but would hope to see dutch, harrigan, and royce there since thier cryo freezing great warriors, unless naru is recognized as the greatest warrior from earth lol. 6 hrs to go then ill see what its all about
they canāt bring those characters in, dutch would only be like 5 years old or something lol
Lmfao your right, gimme some slack my minds half on the movie stuff and half on work lol
I read very little but i already feel it gave away too much. BTW grow up. Its a damn cartoon not the holy grail of stories. Iād feel that way if it were for Badlands or the Alien tv series.
If the movies that good it may have somethin growin up if you pickin up what im puttin down lol
Wat? how old is you?
Im 2 inches years old
You too huh? Iām hamburger years though. So that means a couple of hours old.
That 2 inches of terror squad š¤
Movie was great. Just didnāt like that the predators didnāt really hunt or show skill.
Plot armor like crazy for all the humans.
Well i guess the title would lend a heads up on that. Callin it KILLER of KILLERS instead of HUNTER of HUNTERS which would be in line more with established lore as they are not just some brute force ākillersā they are skilled honor based HUNTERS
But so far only hearing mostly good things so im actually excited to see what its all about
Of course they can bring those characters in
They would just have to set the movie shortly after
Pretty much a flashy murder flick featuring whimsical fight scenes, aināt going to lie that fucking 3rd characters background story is spotty as it gets during the dialogue scene and is like when you play Skyrim and pause the game to eat 30 cheese wheels and the one stamina potion you have to your name
After watching it i see what you mean, although i like it for the most part A LOT of parts had me sayin āyea right that aint even believableā like the pilot able to get out his plane mid flight and some other āreallyā¦reallyā moments. The predator language was a fail for me so dont have high hope that badlands will do better
heard it in youtube shorts already, humans were speaking it. Nothing interesting there. Almost thought it was Klingon. What makes it so special?
You got me. I saw i think on the avp galaxy channel, the guys were talkin about where dan might be getting his ideas from, xenopedia or somethin like that. Anyway they mentioned that they notice he uses alot of phrases or names that came outta that site or blog whatever it is. So that may be where he got the idea of ādiving deeper into predator culture and everyday lifeā i mean theres gonna be a family dynamic with predators in badlands then add the languageā¦its gonna be, yea some klingon sounding language with subtitles reading:
āyou loved him more than me!!! Fuck you dad im goin on my own ill show you!!!ā **storms out then decides to go hunt some stuff to gain his fathers love and respect, only to find once returning, that the brother killed pops to reign supreme so now ādekā has to kill his brother for honor and to bring order among the tribe
Tbh i was freestylin there, but oh man if that ends up being loosley how it goes then we may have yet to see a movie that surpasses The Predator perhaps up til nov 12 or when ever its said to release. Wouldnt doubt that some simp over the action and idea of hunting other alien species and ignore the big alien elephant in the roomā¦and to a degree i wouldnt even blame em. Seen a comment saying āmaybe weve been fed so much horrible movies the last 5 years more or less that we praise movies that by usual standards would actually be pretty midā i can see that and sums up pretty well how prey and maybe even KOK are. Anyway to end on a positive i think its fair to say the japanese chapter was easily the better thing that came from the movieā¦at least imo
After watching KOK: The Sheild:
The 1st predator in the story is whimsickle with his hand boom tube, and his physical presence doesnāt make sense in terms of the Yautja physiology. Its just a fantasy power trip (humanly impossible choreo stunts) to invoke a different sense of that hero persona. While the Hulk persona is also there as well ( which by design only alludes that the studio wanted to make a Hulk or The Thing type of character and I canāt say if it was necessary as it complicates the whole lore) and nothing more can be thought about it other than something superficial as most animated stuff goes.
After watching KOK: The Sword ( and yes, those titles are simple to remember and probably not an indication that they the writers are crafty, but they had a need to simplify the whole the thing for people to understand and remember)
Lots of back story from the humans perspective and the build up with a Predator is nothing more than āhey he looks different than the moviesā and shortly after becomes canon fodder literally.
To me the rest of the movie feels like the Humans are a unique franchise called Killer of Killers made up of people from a warring society you wonāt really remember considering they are cartoons. But I confess that the visual story telling and animation are top notch. Not going to lie, if youāre a fan of Predator films, youāre not going give a shit about animation unless its realistic and a majority of the film is. so there.
KoK: The Bullet and LAST act if you want to call it that brings these stories tied some how together. It will probably confuse you even more because there is less and less lore building at these point which may leave lots of people disappointed with that. So i will not talk about that. Let you find out as its just SMALL THINGS that keep this film interesting to the fanbase or just floating above water.
Overall:
Could this film work as a live actionā¦possibly. At least the human story parts (cinematography-wise) and choreo stunts could. NOT the last part.
Its an animated film and fairly well made. The painterly stuff could have cut costs majorly but thatās not for you, as the audience, to know anything about.
I hear people in forums say each of these stories could have been a movie. Iām like: For real? Are you that optimistic about a dense cartoon story or are you in favor of Killer of Killers (the human story parts) being a whole franchise altogether? With that Iād say go play Assasins Creed Valhalla, Ghosts of Tsushima, have coke and a smile and stfu!
Because by the time the predators show up, I donāt even care what happens to those people. They had their chance to shine and they never imposed any story canon that anyone can understand other than they were fantasy stories with no historical significance. However the aircraft and swords, armours, era based stuff ālookedā authentic, their backstory was anything but.
The only thing MASTERPIECE worthy of talking about is the artistic technical workmanship which could be applied to something better than this franchise.
Any cartoony proportions of the anatomy of the predators were unnecessary and could have done more for the fanbase by keeping them more realistic. But I can agree if by making them exaggerated it would potentially sell toys in this regard. but all the details would make it a very expensive toy that nobody would find easy to manufacture. Unless of course they are wanting to put it in FORTNITE.
Story Crit:
It appears to me the subject matter that is the biggest controversy is the matter of EGO vs THE MONSTER. I think the grey area and ambiguity of this animated film is subject to the EGO in popular perspectives in order to influence the audience with a slow burn.
I just finished the first chapter story arch whatever you want to call it.
I think I forseen this happen.
The aspect that this whole film could be a psychological mind fuck design-wise is growing in my brain. It looks intentional. It forces the viewer to ask the question āWHY THESE PEOPLE?ā
Like the Viking lady who is designed to look like a man, power trips into a fantasy kill spree, to the fact that it feels like a fever dream of a lesbian fantisizing that this family of hers is real and that her past is what drives her.
To put it into perspective, the original Predator film was about architypes using the ego of modern western american masculinity toxic or otherwise. It makes sense, Arnold and team. Them loosing control and Arnold being the last man standing.
My conclusion: All three stories are tonally different and not going for any prior film tone.
But the finale played out more so like a simplified John Carter of Mars thing . Gladiators in the desert fighting against more than just bipeds. It just became Planet Hulk and even that has limited appeal.
COMPARISONS:
Iāll compare this film to something like TITAN AE. If you never saw that film, then you know where this film lays in terms of significance. It is entertaining but along the lines of a film like TITAN AE. Its a blend of CGI and hand drawn animiated stuff so it is a very good comparison to KoK than any other film iāve every seen. Just for this mention, it is worth at least watching once.
Not for lore,
Not for easter eggs,
Not for one liners or call backs,
Not for predators that you want to take home with you to the bubble bath or do āre-paintā sessions ( we never follow any one predator long enough through their conceit of their hunt, it would have been nice to get 4-5 minutes of each of their conceit and journey as we never really feel they are hunting anything just given something to kill. It could mean the writers could NOT come up with something worth 5 minutes of film to tell per predator BUT that could mean an extra 10-15 minutes overall. Iām sure something like this could appear later in a webonly broadcast or a directors cut does happen with sci-fi especially the Alien franchise)
This film is memorable but more for its visual worth, story narratives although cartoon like had more human driven back story than any other predator films. Its very much a curve ball from āfranchiseā developers. You will only get F13 games instead of anything new out of F13. Season of the Witch was what you got from Halloween. Same goes for the Transformers franchise going super highly rendered CGI in Transformers One. Its verceral escapism not found in its former self.
And there you have it, this is what you get from the Predator developers.
Its not bizarre, its more like standing out on the edge of design for design-sake and expanding its commercial territory while sitting on its own hands or stepping on its own tail.
It might cut itself short by cutting corners in order to do this but 'that is entertainment"!
SCORE:
6.9/10 Lost points for being animated and part of this Predator franchise as it didnāt do it justice. It meant to do well for those businesses/studios involved and all the power to them.
I would have rather liked to have seen The Thundercats made geniune to the Thundercats source material while using this style of art and cinemotography. I would have dropped a heavy money load for it at the theatres/games/toys/etc.
The pop and the hiss comes from the studio itself in making this Predator āwith no predator storyā, the emphasis while including 3 stories of societal/warring conflict tied to trivial parts of predator lore while every digitally asset being āimportedā visually into the audiences visual cortexes not knowing well that that effort in the digital movie making age is a simple task since, legally, the owners of the franchise can request it.
For reference:
7/10 is good at its job technically and is worth talking about in interested geek groups
8/10 is something that is worth watching because it holds significant value to cinema and does a good job.
9/10 is something that is worth watching because it holds significant value to cinema and is extreme good at that job while entertaining.
10/10 is that its so good you and your ugly aunti will be talking about it like it was like going to be awarded with trophies for its weight in gold in the future of cinema and can not be out done. And you and your ugly auntie friendship is going out of style real quick.
Well put and ive never seen Titan AE and i could easily see the planet hulk comparisons. The art does stick out more than abything of actual substance from either storyline, although i still think the japanese syory would and could have been made into a live acyion but maybe not with every scene or even the story. If youve read or heard the japanese story from the book Predators: if it bleeds theres mutiple stories and one is in feudal japan which is pretty could and with some actual GOOD chracter building on whats already there can make for a good movie.
Unfortunately i do t think weāll really get anything groundbreaking regardless if its visual or story/lore wise. It all seems to be the most shallow takes on predators and what weve come to know about them as little as that might be (which i favir knowing less as it keeps the mistique aspect). It seems alot of ppl have fell for the visual selling point which usually is given away in trailers and are sometimes literally just that a scene that last a few seconds then back to lame character tropes, plot armored, or lazy scripts.
Id agree with your score as well it looks good which is the only thing that sticks nothing else really and even then like i always gripe about, the designs are trash like the idea of the 2 mandibled one kinda started to grow on me a lil til he was unmasked and we got to see it a more which the mandibles looked to be there as an after thought more than a substantial characteristic of the iconic design which DOESNT only pertain to the jungle hunter as many seem to think. It wasnt terrible but ive honestly seen fan made predator movies with more substance and character development that doesnt mean it has to be some generational talent oscar deep performances just not so shallow and that says alot. Atleast in my opinion
