Knife Parry, Suicide Bomb Disarm, FT Tutorial

All of these things need to be explained. It’s pretty disgusting that there is no FT tutorial, and that even in the “Extra” files there is absolutely no mention of being able to Parry the Predator with melee, which is a huge reason so many braindead preds get free wins, they simply spam melee on FT and FT players by and large have no clue there is even a way to defend it - leading to them complaining that melee is op.

Secondly, being able to disarm the bomb. This is never explained or even hinted at, much less mentioned in the Extra files. So, through trial and error, I found out various things that are both stupid but unexplained. One, you cannot knife off the mask when the predator is downed. This is stupid, because you can knife him in his face to down him, but you can’t knife him in his face to get his mask off. If anything, you should have a special animation where you pry it off by stabbing it behind his jaw, not have it be magically immune to what you just downed the Pred with. Learning that made us all die, which was a free win for the pred they didn’t deserve. Now, after you actually get the mask off and kill the predator - interacting with the wrist tablet is a channeled interaction, like muddying yourself. This is dumb as hell, because why do you need to “channel” grabbing the wrist of a dead and inert body? People tap the interact button because of the sense of urgency, then keep tapping when the display doesn’t come up, only to notice after a few presses that it’s a channeled interaction - and by the time you realize, boom, everyone is dead. Another free win for Pred they didn’t deserve.

Then, once you finally get your hands on the wrist tablet, the game never explains the minigame or controls to you anywhere, so you don’t even know what to press. You click anything wrong - boom, you’re all dead. What a great learning experience and another free win for Pred they didn’t deserve. Once you realize you have to use specific buttons to match the symbols, because you don’t want to press anything wrong now, the game doesn’t explain you have to manually press the button to “lock in” a matched symbol. Because last time you pressed that button, it blew up and you died. So, by the time you realize the game won’t automatically lock in matching symbols for you and move on to the next one, you click the button that killed you last time, but guess what - you took too long figuring that out, so boom, everyone died, another free win for Pred they didn’t deserve.

So, through trial and error you finally figure out that - you can kill the Pred with a knife to the face, but you cannot remove his mask with a knife to the face, so you have to shoot his mask off and kill him, you have to channel the interaction to pick up the wrist tablet on a dead body, you have to manually lock in the matched symbols with the same button that kills you immediately. Okay. Thanks for never explaining this or mentioning it anywhere. So you kill a predator who died on your teammate because he was doing the classic melee spam since no one knows about Knife Parry.

You immediately swap to a gun, blow the mask off, then kill him, and run up to his wrist.

THE GAME PRIORITIZES YOUR INPUT TO REVIVING YOUR DEAD TEAMMATE NEXT TO THE PRED BODY, WHEN THE BOMB WILL KILL HIM AND YOU BOTH ANYWAYS EVEN IF YOU DID REVIVE HIM.

That’s when you realize the game still has some real dogshit mechanics to smooth out.

Anyways, provide a comprehensive FT tutorial, and actually put something in the extra notes explaining Knife Parry and Bomb Disarm in detail. Knives should obviously be able to pry off the mask on a helpless downed Pred.

Also, improve the slide speed and distance for both sides so it’s a legitimate mobility option.

This is just crying

No, it really isn’t, you braindead moron.

The fact the game tries to prioritize reviving a teammate over disarming a bomb that will kill the teammate anyways is a clear oversight. That’s embarrassing.

The fact multiple life-saving and incredibly important mechanics to understand as FT aren’t shown anywhere in the game is embarrassing.

The current impact of those facts are why predator queues are longer than the matches themselves.

Obvious things like this need to be explained and located somewhere in the game to be learned for the game balance to settle, currently many FT players are dying for stupid reasons or lack of game knowledge because the game never explains or shows this stuff. So, it’s very easy to make bad balance changes based on slanted stats for things like this.

People who were saying the game was dead on arrival get credibility from absolute jokes like this slipping through the cracks.

As long as you weren’t advocating for the defuse symbols to auto-lock in, I agree completely. Burden of knowledge is a game-design 101 thing. It’s ridiculous that there’s not at least a pop-up on the UI that tells you kill the predator to attempt to defuse the bomb or something. The parry prompt is brief and is hard to react to without a bit of practice.

The defuse does show w/s for cycling the symbols but yeah it doesn’t say how to lock it in. I am pretty good at trial and error to figure things out so I can understand most people need a bit more guidance on the fact that it’s there. I only knew it was there in the first place from watching a stream before I bought the game.

No, it’s fine as it is - but because it was never explained and had to be learned from trial and error, once you push a button and die instantly, you usually don’t want to push it again. To find out you need to push it only to die because you DIDN’T push it the next time…this is why tutorials exist.

All it served was to elaborate how crappy it is to have all of that expected minigame done in a crunch time never explained or taught. Very poor implementation.

My issue is no visibility on really important mechanics. Not even in the extra files. This affects the general standard of FT play immensely.

This game about Predator. Who cares about tutorial for dogmeat. They already got fireworks except real weapon this must be enough.

Okay, definitely agree.

not really, theres not a tutorial becauses theres nothing to teach the fire team is so brainless
pick assault intell you have support unlocked then pick support use tick skin on both of them and spam shot guns when they get too close easy takes no thought at all

Your personal salt with how FT plays has nothing to do with the fact the tutorial is missing really important information about how to play the class properly, like the mentioned Knife Parry and Suicide Bomb defuse.

There is plenty to teach the Fireteam, whether you facecheck shotgun support mains or not.

Importent like how to shoot and how to move? ok let me fill that gap for you W,A,S,D to move mouse to look M1 to fire M2 to aim there you go done

and for you ps4 players out there its Left joy stick to move right joy stick to look right trigger to shot left trigger to aim.

and if you tell me you already knew that then why do you need a tutorial again?

Alright, if you’re going to be a dumb bitch and not even read the topic, which answers your bad faith questions, then you’re just here to argue and vent out your salty matches, nothing to do with the topic. At this point you’re just derailing. Bye.

Lol and your doing what again? form my point of view your doing the same shit right now

also this has nothing to do with my matches? im just saying that thats all you need to do as the fire team so why have a guide its brainless

Okay Boomer
