Let's be real.... a city map?

How would you implement this?

Imo…

Predator vision mode picks up on people “sprinting” due to outside city noise?

Maybe force team to crouch walk and make “no sound”, when pred is using their “enhanced sound vision”.

For pred…

Could pred scale buildings in a way where they hang off of ledges? Fire escapes, eavestroughs?
To enhance “predkour”???

Perch on lightpoles, gargoyles, etc? Use street lights to help blend in?

Thoughts?

Don’t crucify me because I don’t remember specifics but doesn’t the Predator have more vision modes in his bio mask besides just thermal imaging? I remember over different movies seeing biological lense (I believe in Predator 2), magnetic pulse (predators), and even organic tracing (tracing face hugger in AVP:requiem). So in a city environment there could be more options for sensing people that is beyond just heat and noise. I hope we get more features added to the bio mask to toggle through 😃

Great ideas on the predkour by the way!

good question. I think they should go for alleyways and small rooftops for pred. some doors could be open for fireteam to go through buildigs. the more I picture it the more possible i see it actually being done. picture the King Willy death scene, not too tall buildings, the height of trees we have now.

Alleys and streets with a plaza or something for an open space connecting to the slaughterhouse which makes the fireteam automatically cold so they dont have to mud up. they can go in and out to get cold instead. the hanging carcasses can be done, theyve already made hanging people.

or by the time the city map comes out come out with a new FT class which has the silver thermal suits. make it night. make a mission that requires infra red light that pred can see or something.

the rooftops would be the safe travel zone for the pred and the fireteam would have inside buildings which limit preds mobility. there would also be stairways going up to rooftops with the extract there for FT.

there should be a construction site with cranes and shit the predator can get on. maybe even a building under construction. yes definitely adapt predkour to work building ledges, balconies, telephones poles, lights all that, good idea.

They honestly did a good job with the flow/feel of the traversal in this game already especially in the trees so I could see them pulling something slick off within a more urban map or something

Building with those glass ceilings if you remember in Predator 2. The meat packing plant would be the perfect place to need different modes for the bio mask. I like alley ways and so on but I like the OP’s ideas too and would love to see some scaling of larger buildings, fire escapes, etc so you can still do long range as well.

I love this idea!

However, I think it would be incredibly hard to fabricate.

There is a lot of design and time that needs to go into something like this.

I would assume that if they were to attempt a map like this, it would be available 2021…

Not sure though ofc, I am not a game developer…

they may already have it done as dlc and are waiting to charge us for it.

This thread needs to be continually bumped because the devs need to see this. @Courier maybe?

They should better repair existing maps and AI and even add more content for them, instead of adding any more glitching and bugged maps. I think this level with jungles is limit for Illfonic and adding some more with cities and predkour is just a fantasies. They can’t made realistic predkour on trees (limited only with lower branches and inability to climb and hang a tree trunk), what city are you talking about then?

@meowera No offense man but this exact critique is literally everywhere on this forum. Let’s provide fresh and productive ideas rather than the same comments on why something that is not under our control won’t happen.

I hope!

Anyone remember neuro-vision from concrete jungle? Wonder if that vision mode could make any sense in hunting grounds. Would have to be a creative application of it.

Honestly (off topic sorry) i really hope they add additional elements that require different vision modes. Vision modes to me is predator along with the clickity clackity.

Too many multiplayer games died. And this is good game, i love it! I don’t want it to die in half a year. It needs som advertising, it needs balance, it needs more features for both preds and humans, more missions, clever bots, more game intresting mechanics. May be even more beautiful jungle maps with same mechanics. It doesn’t needs paid DLC’s with skins and new bugs and glitches with city map and new code. It’s my opinion nothing more. If i were manager of this game i’d invest money in advertising of the game, new jungle (or forest, rocky, waterfall) maps, new and longer missions and better AI.

Thats is not the topic

I feel ya but either unfortunately or fortunately, depending which side you are on, that approach doesn’t seem to sell. Most people just like to consume and move on to the next thing (which is kinda sad sometimes) but it seems DLC’s are how they keep the lights on and stay relevant. If there is something more to look forward to.

I agree that there are more pragmatic approaches that would make the gameplay overall more solid but a lot of development (if it’s good) achieves what we both want in conjunction, with automation, testing, QA, etc. iterative.
Personally I’m hoping for more game modes (which has already been mentioned by the dev team) more weapons, vision modes, and maps. Of course skins seem to be a must so those too of course.

Perhaps the mechanics of a city map are a little more daunting buuut have you seen city maps lately? Look at spider-man, it’s damn insane. I’m not at all certain but I wonder if these can be somewhat shared between studios (anyone know this?). I’m just blabbing now. Long story short, I think it can be done.

Long live the idea of city maps!

I don’t have nothing against city map, I just doubt its implementation at a good level. Esp-ly there are a lot of other things to do in this game. And how can you balance ground human team and fast jumping on rooftops predator? Give humans possibility to enter the buildings? So it will be death traps for predator-players, cuz they playing third-person and lack of view and movement inside close areas and doorways, and humans will move only inside closely buildings. I got match recently where me and my team from random players sit in only hangar whole time of match and predator was on the roof. He was scared to enter, we was scared to out. At few last mins my patience snapped and i left the hangar and died and nobody left to save me. I think it’s not enjoyable gameplay for humans nor predator.
