First things first, this isn’t a pissing thread, if the comments you want to add are just straight cussing, BS this, BS that, F you and F them, shit that, then this is the wrong thread for you.
I wanna talk about the melee system and parry system seriously. To balance it out for gameplay for FireTeam and Predator.
Not talking about straight 4v1 Knife rush damage, we know thats a hit over the top. The devs can deal with that.
Let’s talk ideal scenarios/systems for how this would work. Take game balance heavily into consideration, ease up on the “Predator is this much stronger and could easily blah blah blah” we all know, we’re fans of the movie and comics, its why we have this game.
My thoughts on this systems so far:
Parrying needs a smaller/tighter window after the first parry.
Chip/increasing damage with multiple parry against humans. The first one is a 100% block, second one could be less effective depending on class. So on so forth depending how well you could keep up.
Example:
Hunter wrist blade attack - second parry 40% damage blocked and diminishing to #3 30% damage blocked
Scout - 50% same reduction after #2, #3 - 40%
Bezerker - 25% blocked, 20%
These aren’t hard values but to gauge an idea of what I’m suggesting
If you’re getting into a knife fight with Pred your team should be on you ready to help after that first hit, if you wandered off or got cornered, this prevents a unbreakable 1v1, hopefully encouraging more teamwork/coverage.
This is not taking into account combistick or other melee weapons. Maybe larger or smaller windows for parry. We know there’s meta right with the combi stick but lets leave it aside right now, not ignore just focus on this system for now. Nit pick later.
I would like to think this would pull back knife rush/confident teams a bit while making it so Predator’s melee feels like it is a viable attack on something other than Bezerker. I run Hunter and Scout only and never get into parry fights (Lucky me?) But I have parried as the fire team, ALOT, it took me by surprise honestly that I could do it so easily.
There’s the factor of stamina and class stamina that could/should into play with all this as well.
But this is where MY ideas are at. My experience and how I’ve been played against.
Again, addressing specifically the melee system here, try to keep the focus there and keep about the subject, please.
