The character of international political disputes began to deeply unsettle the American populace. This marked a significant departure from World War II, a period when the prospect of engaging in warfare was widely embraced as a profound act of sacrifice. During that earlier time, whether citizens served through conscription or volunteering, there was a prevalent sense of national duty within a then-predominantly European American society, an obligation often broadcast as a central civic ideal. Currently, however, the country is deeply polarized, with a profound disparity emerging between the hopes and reasons of those immigrating to America and the various justifications for deploying American military personnel abroad.

the small town of Hope, Washington is where John Rambo wanders into town and clashes with Sheriff Will Teasle. acts almost as a reflection to small provinces in Canada where decencies reside on small town ethics. Hope, British Columbia served as the primary backdrop for the movie. This resonates how places in Canada are. Its a resort of a larger populous to which small town ethics over throw the politics of larger municipalities. IN reality, they don’t get away with much other than lots of controversies most won’t get away with and try to avoid. This is where the story loses its touch with reality. Most small towns never get away with anything especially with technology today. But in the time this film was created, it makes a real island out of this little town.

at 25 minutes, Rambo is kind of hunted like a dog because he’s resisting arrest for “WHATEVER”…
by a bunch of hill billy Canadians/Fictional Americans. Suspend your disbelief but its kind of fun. At this point, in the year 1982, a helicopter chase with a sniper is kind of over the top to hunt down a relatively unknown “SOLIDER” by some brain dead hill billies not even concerned with what the press would think of this. But lets crack on. -
so after one tragedy from the police department they think their abilities to stop a ‘soldier’ had become a monumental shitfest…and now they still want to fuck this guy (boy as they call it)…and have some monumental firefight…with a soldier with a ‘knife’ which i believe is what started this shit in the first place. A simple hunting knife no larger than a filleting knife and it freaked them out and they realize he’s a war hero ( a green beret)…they realize they wasted fuel for the chopper and some shit as who fell out of the chopper and suddenly Rambo is considered a ‘cop killer’.
Makes me realize this movie is more about the incompetence of a small town police force.
—At this point i realized that Rambo is a film about a social commentary of contemporary bullshit.
I also realize Rambo wasn’t an action hero in this film. He wasn’t dressed the part. He felt like he was just a naturalist and misunderstood.
50minutes in and i still haven’t seen his physique just his demeaner. and at this point I’m sold on RAMBOs disposition. That is, someone who didn’t seek trouble, but was targeted as trouble even though his history was reputable.
This is good story telling!
and then the one scene that explains it all but has more story to tell:
So it occurs to me that the first Rambo film isn’t a film about an action hero, it is more about a film about a man going through PTSD and the poor adaptation of societies figure heads towards those who are suffering, merely due to the political climate.
I wrote this thread to reach out amidst through Zaxial’s stupidity. I feel I need more…i need to know more.
