Licensing Rights

Dunno how to boost this to the devs, so I’m hoping someone in the comments can help with that, if I get some for this.

This is, more or less, a question. Amid Fox’s weird merger with Disney, it’s left many IPs on fire or consumed. But, with Illfonic still being able to add new stuff to the game that’s apparently canon, it makes it clear they still hold the licensing rights, I guess.

The question itself is…could Illfonic do more with the license, like, say, hold story contests? Outlandish question, yes, and asked very weirdly too, but a story contest could be a good way to bring the community together a lot more and help keep it going amid these uncertain times. Because, as many of you know, there’s a new “movie” in the works, which makes it clear Disney has plans with the IP. That alone should put many on edge.

Theres apparently two movies in the works , predator 5 and predators 2

I think most’ve already written off 5 as a bad film in the works. But Predators 2…that’s debatable. Not sure how that’ll go, but it does prove Disney has ideas. Not all are grand ones, though.

They have the rights to do things with the license but have steered clear of much story since they’re not writers.

Cosmetics are canonical. The pink Predator is real.

Dutch and the story from the audio logs is canonical.

Locations, events, and weapons are canonical.

If you want to write for Illfonic then reach out to them or more over wait until they’re in need of writers since nobody wants an unsolicited pitch.

The new film was in development prior to the merger. It got in production after the merger but this has been worked on since 2015. Disney has plans to utilize the i.p by just letting Fox for now do what they’d been doing.

Writing for them may be hard to do. I think I reached out to them before the game even came out, and that was around the time Stalking Shadows was in development, I think. Plus, I’ve lost much of the “hope” of writing for them as, as you said, most companies don’t take unsolicited ideas and run with them. If it happens, then great, and if it doesn’t, oh well.

As for the movies, it’s weird they wanted such a plot as far back as 2015, but then opted for The Predator instead. Guess it’s just weird regardless.
