Little Tips and Tricks for Fireteams and Yautja

FIRETEAM:

  1. Obvious, but you can mud up to prevent the Predator from seeing you in thermal vision. This does not make you invisible to it, just really hard to see, but it is enough to fool a reliant Yautja and give you an advantage

  2. Knife is your best friend against the Predator that wants to melee you. You can parry his attacks with a well-timed button hit (on PC it’s V right before he tries to melee you) which will leave him stunned for ~1 second, enough time for you to slash him, or for your teammates to pump him with lead.

  3. You can use voicechat to communicate with your teammates. But remember that a Predator in the viscinity can hear what you are saying too.

  4. If a Predator downs your teammate, he is more than likely to try and quick-claim him on the spot. You can’t save your teammate, but the best you can do is make the Predator (who is now locked in an animation) pay with his health for this.

  5. You can respawn dead teammates using a reinforcement radio. After you get to it and activate it, wait for a short time, and your teammates will respawn right next to you. Be aware that this can only be used ONCE per match.

YAUTJA:

  1. While uncloaked, you can be seen by enemies but do not chirp. While cloaked, you are COMPLETELY INVISIBLE while STAYING STILL, but you will periodically chirp.

  2. When switching to thermal vision, the Fireteam can hear this.

  3. You can restore your health by using a medkit (of which you have a limited supply of 2). However, you can also find a boar in the jungle and eat him to restore HP too. Aside from the obvious “look for one when you want to eat him”, you can also hear a boar when using your thermal vision. Sadly, you need to watch the original Predator (1987) film to know what kind of sound it makes when you are in thermal vision. Best hint I can give you is that it sounds like a baby squealing gone through a synthesizer.

  4. Fireteam members have limited amount of times they can go down until they die outright. Be aware of this if you plan to long-claim them, or exploit this to wear the Fireteam down.

  5. You can charge your plasma caster shot for bigger splash and damage. Be aware that this takes time, it will consume a lot of your energy and that the Fireteam can see your laser aiming at them. Hide it by aiming somewhere the Fireteam won’t see, and then flick it to blow someone up. Do not try and charge your shot when the Fireteam is looking at you.

  6. You can destroy the Fireteam’s supplies in the world. This includes ammo crates and medkits. Do this to starve the Fireteam of supplies in the long run. You can also shoot explosive barrels and propane tanks that the Fireteam may stand too close to.

  7. You can ground slam when you leap. This will consume ALL of your energy, leave you locked in an animation for a short time after landing, but it will deal AoE damage to the Fireteam and disable weapons for anyone hit with it.

  8. Second Wind (the thing that activates when you lose all your health) recharges. Use this knowledge to not die immedeatly after proccing it.

you forgot some stuff -

  • thermal vision can be seen when cloaked, eyes stay illuminated yellow even if you stand still

  • Boars can be killed whenever you see them to put them on your map permanently for when you need them later as the predator. it leaves teeth marks markers on the map where the bodies are.

  • when you down fireteam members just kill them from far away with the caster and claim them later, you may get an extra kill when they try to revive their friend anyways this way.

  • fireteam can hear Pred cloak/uncloak/change weapons also

  • fire team can sabotage the base alarms so they cannot be used to summon more AI soldiers.

  • fireteam mud blocks the isolation targeting for predator, and blocks thermal vision, but does not conceal footprints or sound baubles from gunfire

  • full charged headshot with the yautja bow is an instant down

  • the smart disc can be thrown and cancelled manually. if it hits nothing structural (trees, walls, ground, etc not people) while flying or coming back you can immediately throw it again for combo hits.

  • fireteam can hear the pred nearby on voicechat also, just like with Jason in F13

  • build your predator for either ranged or melee and pick perks and class accordingly (hunter/scout/berserk)

  • predator has an audio command quick menu and using it can confuse the fireteam. Various commands to give to humans as a pred, and can roar on command. ive used this to bait people into thinking I was healing and killed them.

  • fireteam can headshot predator and break his mask, disabling thermal vision and the targeting laser for the plasma caster

  • fireteam can disarm the predator’s self destruct by interacting with his wrist computer after fully killing him (too quickly IMO)

overall good list. I’m sure there’s a lot more tips too.

Both of these lists are brilliant! And ALL of this should be covered in a gaming tutorial…not just the barebones stuff as a PRedator with some notes to read afterwards!

You think outside the box, I’ve not had the time to use the audio decoy I’ve just not had situations where I can use it, I was thinking when the predator is on the retreat u could get some distance ahead and before u heal up then toss a audio decoy to make them detour somewhere else, just incase they decide to chase u down

the audio decoy is different. if you hold up on the dpad theres actual audio commands you can do

“come here”

“i’m scared”

“over there”

“roar” stuff like that

like in the movie where predator mocked people saying “want some candy” and stuff

the audio decoys you just throw around in a base and the fire team never knows what direction you are in based off audio.

Oh wow ok thanks for the advice, any tips on leaping on to branches I saw some youtubers doing it when the beta was out, not sure if it was intentional though

So u throw out a audio decoy and then u press up on the d pad to select what sound u watch the audio decoy to play? I wonder how long it will lasts for if in trading mode u can pick a build up can find out

no the audio decoy is gear. the audio copycat is separate system predator can always do even if you dont bring the decoys
