All anime was inspired by Disney pedophile ring… Prefer not to even watch such inspired sickness LOL
Machiko the human predator
The worst part is that they could have added a Japanese iteration of the Predator called ”Bone Predator” designed by Hitoshi Kondo for the Play Arts Kai action figure lineup. On its box, it is mentioned that this predator stranded in medieval Japan and lost parts of its tech and armor. So it crafted a new armor out of the bones of its prey, and it uses some big-ass club. Rather than just using another weeaboo trope.
You’re a moron casual
This is Katana.
She’s got my back.
I would advise not getting killed by her.
Her sword traps the souls of its victims.
Ah. So the issue with Samurai Pred and Machiko for alot of you is purely a racism thing. Ok. Nevermind trying to have intelligent debate. Will return to topic discussion with non-bigots.
For me personally I don’t think the overly comic book inspired background fits this iteration of predator.
I would like for this game to remain as grounded in reality as a franchise about an alien bass-fisherman can be.
More sci-fi than science fantasy.
In any case I don’t think its cool throwing the race card out there, I haven’t seen anything that says people don’t want Machiko based on her being a Japanese character (correct me if I am wrong).
The majority of things I’ve read which criticise the character is that she is a very stereotypical Japanese trope, written from a western perspective and would likely make the Japanese cringe at how we view them in pop culture.
It’s more the tone of the constant and completely irrelevant to the subject use of “weeabo” and “anime shit” which neither in fact are. Those deragatory labels being as inapplicable here as they are, what would be the point of even using them besides obvious trolling? Racism may not be the exact term I wanted but for lack of a better -ism, it is still very ignorant.
Also there was nothing inherently disrespectful about Machiko’s presentation. She probably wouldn’t have been written much differently by a Japanese writer. Even in modern times Japanese business men and even students have been known to commit suicide from the shame of failure and disgrace (the seppuku was a bit overdramatic though, yes). There is still a stigma against showing outward emotion that westerers would regard as “cold” as the colonists described her. A trope perhaps but despite how people have started using the word a trope isn’t inherently bad or disrespectful. All plots, characters and even irl people fit several types of “trope”. Look up the TV Tropes website, it gives explanations of common and obscure tropes and their variants as well as a fairly comprehensive list of examples from all sorts of media. It’s an excellent resource especially if you are a writer (whether pro or just for fun like me).
