Marvel acquires Aliens and Predator!!

Marvel just acquired Aliens and Predator.

This is great news! Hopefully this will continue to expand the lore.

Eh…I hope they don’t do any crossovers, I don’t feel like they would mesh well.

No this is great news. There will at least be consistency. I’m interested to know what’s going to be the future of the franchises. This is a complete surprise.

This could be a snowball that builds new movies should marvel and Disney work together. No more “The Predator” type movies.

The quality of the comics I’m sure will be up to par, but I just dont wanna see a Pred fighting Thor or anything like that.

Didn’t we get DC crossovers already?

Knowing Disney, this isn’t good.

As far as I know Disney owns the Predator and the Alien franchises quite a while now. And Disney owns Marvel too. Sounds like that article is especially about the comics.

It should be fine with Disney. Disney just needs to be OK with providing rated R content.

As long as they don’t integrate them into their infantile superhero universe then fine, but I’m not optimistic.

I’m actually loosing track of what franchises run under disney now. It seems theres not much out there that the mouse does not own.

Does Marvel ever do actually franchise media? Darkhorse usually does, DC had always held the Batman and Predator crossovers. …even Aliens and superman…good god. Now this. They must be desperate for new content readership since their original theory of marginalized LGTBQ markets had completely depleted it’s share holdership and since the economic stall its seeking new business opportunities like this. Hope they get back on their feet but then again comicbook readership has been at an all time low!!

Im still amazed there were corporate suits sitting around debating whether or not hamfisting in politics would do anything other than tank comic sales. Propaganda peices haven’t sold since the cold war, people like a plot rather than being beaten over the head with themes. You can have a minority character without having them beat up nazi’s every other panel.
As if people just brainlessly buy things if it has a pandering narrative. Do they think people like Miles Morales JUST because he’s black? Is it going to sell if we don’t have 20 issues of black spiderman defeating the KKK? Its an almost backwards way of thinking. Treats the audience like children.

Doesn’t Disney own marvel?

Dunno about that, Alien and Predator IPs aren’t very “hot” at the moment, if any other movie is made about them and doesn’t hit above 500m, they are “getting in the vault” along side many IPs.
SW is only alive because of the merchandise and fanbase, but even then look at how they handle the IP, the only good related media is only good because of one man. But again, Disney, like they retconned alot of SW lore, I would expect the same to A/P universe.

Will try to be positive, but I really really don’t trust Disney.

@Nephranhulk Yes, Disney owns everything(or will soon own)

NO MORE THE PREDATOR TYPE MOVIE.LMAO THE PREDATOR MOVIE WAS BASICLY A DUMB MARVEL MOVIE

Here’s what David Finch had to say about getting to draw both the Alien “Big Chap” Xenomorph and this Iron Man-killing Predator:

“Alien and Predator are the two of the most identifiable, iconic characters of all time, and I love them for that. But mostly, it’s being fortunate enough to be a kid when they were new. I’ve seen every movie they’ve ever been in, and I cannot wait to see them wreaking havoc in the Marvel Universe. I drew my pictures of them with a massive smile on my face.”

Nononononono THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH MARVEL UNIVERSE

Christ they would gucking fit better in the damn star wars universe at that point

Yep, it is the real life “Empire”.

I swear to god if Disney gets illfonic in trouble with legal shit

Rumor has it that the Disney SW sequels are going to be removed from canon and placed in Star Wars Legends. This could be an excellent piece of news if it’s true. The whole fanbase (minus the brainless zealots) wants this.

The odds of that happening are “there” but not high. Illfonic, as far as I know, got the permission through Sony, so Disney wouldn’t step in and order them to cease unless they pull a Battlefront 2 or something, and despite the game’s conflicts, we haven’t gotten there yet.
