Marvel's Alien #1 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Salvador Larroca
Something about seeing the Alien’s inner mouth being flexible like an actual tongue feels wrong
Yeah I agree it doesn’t look right
They look like the worms from the old King Kong movie
Its interesting because its snake like. They never tried it in films because you know, practical effects.
I’m curious how far and different Marvel will take this considering they have the power to make a complete movie out of anything they publish.
They need to do Predator KILLS The Marvel Universe
I mean if Marvel/Disney can lead Alien away from all the bad stuff that Prometheus and Alien Covenant brought to the table then I’m all for it
Its no doubt Prometheus and COvenant as films made more money than any comicbook of Alien put out to date, but if they do something visually progressive and well defined then that would be better considering how odd ball all the comics were. If it turns out to look like storyboards for a movie, then I would actually like to read it.
Like for instance the Alien Starbeast book that came out not too long ago was not so interesting because their models looked like gays and dikes (this is on purpose) but it looked tacky for an Alien book. The color pallet was sound though IMHO. But considering how much it costs to make line art based comic books, you’re looking at peanuts for bare minimum art pages.
But if Alex Ross painted it, well thats a little bit more.
Dark Horse used to do quality Alien cover art…but the interiors were meh…your ordinary line art fair.
The Xeno looks good, the tongue is weird, wonder what it’s incubator was.
We’re back to 6 fingers too.
Because now it seems less like a blunt force weapon and more like an actual silly tongue waving around with a little baby mouth on it
6 fingers was always cool though
AHAHA THEY CHANGED THE COVER AFTER THE DRAMA OF THE FIRST WHO WAS TRACED ART
Uh oh
I actually quite like Prometheus despite its many, many flaws.
The main issue for me with those prequels though is they just destroy the mystery and enigmaticness of the Alien. Now we know (according to Ridley Scott) they’re the mashup product of a race of bald aliens who dress in cloaks and live on a very dull, neoclassical looking planet, and a disgruntled sociopathic android who fancies himself as Laurence of Arabia.
I’m not saying Prometheus and Covenant are bad movies I’m just saying we need to sweep some of the “bad things” into the fire. Like everyone including Illfonic did with The Predator movie
