Indeed lol. Also they said they don’t want you hulking in and tanking everyone. Ok yeah. AND YOU CANT. You literally don’t have the health pool for it. Which is good, but you also can’t reliably kill 1 on 1 in melee either ?

but if that’s the case delete the berzerker or rework him cause clearly that class doesn’t fit the design philosophy of the game

cause if this is truely what the devs are considering when it comes to balancing then stop giving us melee weapons make the berzerker either a not melee focused class or change his stats to fit it giving him low hp mid stam low gear max perk or swap gear and perk cause clearly he isn’t intended for what the game design philosophy right now is he shouldn’t have to be garbage just because he exists

they clearly know melee weapons are the more fun way to play the game or they wouldn’t keep giving us more melee weapons and yet they don’t want us to use them?

I’d like to note 2 competent players can murder a predator in seconds without parrying at all if he melee blitzes, which again, I’m cool with the health pool. But why is there 1 decent melee weapon in the game? #makewarclubunparryable

yeah but that could just be a numbers situation with how much dmg a weapon does and how fast it swings for melee weapons DPS is all that matters unless the weapon has a really good 2ndary effect or other kind of nich like weapon swing range or bleed which we have it’s just those weapons need more damage or a faster swing speed which sadly the warclub doesn’t have yet cause they for some reason want people to land that 3rd hit which only afk players could get hit by or i guess with fast hands bear traps maybe

course they could be balancing around the idea that your only supposed to flank melee strike but alot of the time you just can’t do that if the FT has surround sound headphones or just high sensitivity in general along with other weird bugs like you can’t parry 180 angles and shit which is probably just a hitbox hurtbox issue not colliding properly

I should be clear: I don’t have a direct hand in balance/design. I was giving a poor metaphor, probably stemmed from me reading one too many Facebook DMs like "i was samurai predator and i charged three of them and they killed me and its a predator game the predator should kill them all’.

(I’d probably need to add more typos to make that accurate. And to be fair to me, I have seen way too many people play the Predator like the Tank from L4D2. That will not work)

Anyways, my personal salt aside, my bad for not being clear. It’s going to be an ongoing juggle of making each part of the game fun. And people’s feedback here and on social gets rolled up and evaluated.

Oh yeah the 3rd hit is actually useless. But my point is, before they nerfed zerk and combi, me and a buddy loaded into numerous games with just me and him. Keep in mind this was before we knew how good parry was this was like day 2 after launch. And we just out dps killed him when he melee blitzed. Which again I feel like that’s how it should be. A straight on assault should not really work. But then they nerfed zerk and combi. So it just seems like at this point you can’t even confirm a single ft member with melee

You’re right that’s not how Predator should be played and playing FT would not be fun if that’s how it worked either. But I think the scale is tipped so far away in fear of predators having that capability, that now over half of the predators Arsenal is a meme. (Are you aware that the alpha sickle actually does less damage than wrist blades?)

fair enough just keep in mind since you are our bridge sometimes we have to take your word at face value since you can talk with the devs directly even if it’s just watercooler talk

and of course making educated guesses based on what were seeing through patch notes in deciphering what the devs are pushing towards like right now i’d say they want a more arcadey shooter experiance

but they also want more meaningful choices when it comes to perk variety to prevent classes being completly worthless due to optimal perk stacking

and then ya know cosmetics cause it’s fun to play dress up!

Pred needs a parry or at the very least a block.

Ideally both sides should have these features.

I agreed with him, melee was already viable. Elder sword and Katana are so strong. Melee should be viable 1 vs 4 or even 1 vs 3 . Plus many people dont know how tp.use melee properly, how to engage, when disengage and how to use combo of katana. You can shot one arrow or plasma and finish with melee. Or you can jump for killing one guy alone. Too many people are running 1 vs 3/4 with melee without doing any damage before to the fr and if they kill the guy they instantly Quick claim. @OldKingHamlet was right about this argoument in my opinion.

Nope it’s the EASIEST way to play, not the funniest, is neither funny for who play on fr side being attacked by melee. Imagine if melee was op, you cant dodge (because of tracking) , you cant do damage , you cant avoid the situation. Rightly in this game there is the parry mechanic that avoid this situation. Range weapon are the more funny and skilled weapon to use and also the more film related. But of course 99% of the player base are not shooter gamers and don’t know how to hit even one arrow , thats why they go for melee. Remmeber that the First week people were asking for AUTO LOCK aim for plasma caster lime AvP 2010. That only shows how people can be bad in a shooter game. Go play pub and tell me melee is not viable, I can literally win games by spamming wrist blade only, and you can do that as well.

Lmao this 1 guy with knife out can hold off the pred till his team sprints up unless you’ve got the mandatory netgun needed to down someone with melee. Each single FT is more threatening than a pred playing “stealthy using equipment at their disposal to outplay the FT.”

Idk what game illfonic’s playing but the only preds that stand a chance at this point are either full invis + bow which is the slowest most boring match ever when its happening constantly. Or the ones bunnyhopping with handheld plasma caster & anyone can tell you no pred in any fucking movie did that. The other 80% of preds are downed and gtfo.

Prefer melee to people sweaty jumping around with handheld because they know melee is garbage, I miss launch day.

As pure melee only? Well you can, but parry is inconsistent on how it functions.

Fireteam has stab, swing, AND parry.
Predator has R2 spam…and I think an L2 stab with the Katana. Not like I’m going to try melee again anytime soon to figure out what moves are available as the current meta is impossible to deal with 😅… but it does seem to feel like Fireteam has legit more decisions to make when it comes to melee combat. Swing, stab, or attempt to parry.
Whereas for predator it’s just smash r2 or l2 maybe.
As I mentioned before I was conversating with another fan the other day, and we realized we both had a similar, but unrelated gripe. The was no options for small jumps while in range of a tree. Sometimes the tree’s X icon is there and all you REALLY wanna do is hop up, and over a small obstacle so you can keep chasing…but instead you break chase and run a different direction, because you literally CAN’T attempt a small jump cuz TREE. Maybe the ascent jump should be a button combo, and the short jump should just be X?
