Have you ever considered, when someone misses the chopper and the predator is still alive, his/her status should be “M.I.A.” instead of “Alive” in the summary screen? Alive suggests that everything is all right, but in reality the player is left behind in an enemy territory, and very likely will be killed by the predator offscreen.

Or captured and tortured by the guerillas. Or skinned by the predator. Maybe those corpes hanging on the trees on every map are the people who are left by the chopper?:D We don’t know. M.I.A. would suggest that he is maybe alive or maybe dead.
