I think explosions and energy based damage are two different sources of damage in this game.

just anecdotal
i took a uncharged plasma shot as dante today from an elder vicious only took 30ish damage unless this was splash which it didn’t look like as i was staring him down when he was in a tree
and later i actually saw a splash damage shot from a city hunter deal 25 damage
which is a 25% damage reduction from a 34 damage splash shot
assuming that CH wasn’t running down range
as i don’t run OWLF on my dante
he seems to take less damage from a caster shots
which again if this is true unleashed should affect the plasma prototype and the NRVE
I’m a plasma caster abuser and I can tell you, supports and dante (both have explosive damage resistance passive) are far more difficult to down with the plasma than a dutch 25 or 87 (87 is the strongest tank and 25 is as tanky as dante). Playing as both Dante and support, i’ve noticed plasma doesn’t hurt that much. so yeah, I believe they take less damage from plasma
Support lost its explosive damage resistance, when they gave it the teammate protection passive.
Just check into it when you get a chance @OldKingHamlet ask the dev’s
since Dante takes less damage from the plasma caster which is an explosive weapon he should then take less damage from the Plasma rifle prototype and the NRVE and then that would mean these two weapons should be affected by Unleashed
