So we have had some news on when we can expect the new Mode and Map but I believe it is to late. With GOT multiplayer coming soon and Avengers set to release the 1st week of September, I feel that the player base is going to take a massive hit and the new mode if it is a large scale game mode its going to be tough to fill in the slots if the playerbase is hit hard by the upcoming release of some large scale multiplayer games
New Map and Mode come to late
I think you’re exactly right. If they nail the new mode and it’s actually fun to play, while also actually making it playable. (queue times/bugs) it should do okay! This game will always have ppl playing it even if it is a whopping 27 people, though
So much agree with this. I am also switching to Avengers when it pops. Played the beta and I really liked it.
You may be right. The main worry James Cameron has is that one map is not enough. The other worry James Cameron has is facehuggers. James Cameron hates those things.
Haha, if only they would throw facehuggers in, that would sure spice things up a bit :)
James Cameron added them to his edition of the game but didn’t like it.
Release a game with three maps and one game mode and then add one map in 5 months (by the time it comes out) is going to kill off most games.
Well just have to wait and see what effect will the new map and mode have. Many people are playing less or almost not playing the game, but still watch YouTube or twitch streams or hang out in the forum. There is much negativity but a small spark will draw some of them in again.
I disagree. Once the bugs are gone we will see growth in the player base. FT needs more compelling missions though.
I went to GOT because of bugs but I was thinking about ripping spines out the whole time.
This game offers a unique experience not found in any other game and will always stand out because of that.
People are going to play this game when updates come, and people are going to play the newest games that come out, that’s just the nature of things.
This genres player base is like a tide that swells and falls with every patch, retention is important between patches but it’s something you grow with time. Daily/weekly player numbers go up and down but that base under the tide is what you grow with new content like maps, modes and events.
I’d rather have them work than be rushed. The base becoming an out going tide is more likely with badly done content.
The new map might be a jungle but it’s definitely different and will require different tactics. I’m looking forward to it.
The mode I’m still unsure on so I’ll reserve judgement. Need more information. I should add, I know not all modes are going to be for me. So if this one isn’t my thing that’s not something I’m going to be upset with.
I may try Avengers, but GOT can go fornicate itself (or its sibling. R.R. Martin loves to shoehorn that shart in there for some reason.). I’ll stick with PHG, thank you very much.
This can also mean Ghost of (I don’t know how to spell it), the new game about Samurai.
Personally I dont think its going to make a difference.
Anyone easily bored enough to leave PHG forever to play a new release either has a short attention span (I know a couple of people like this), or doesn’t appreciate this game enough anyway.
Anyone who does appreciate the nuance of this game doesn’t really have anywhere to go as there is a distinct lack of good assymetric multiplayer games out there.
PHG has no contenders as there isnt another game similar to it.
I can tell you right now they probably wont hit the wanted game mode… My best guess is that if they end up doing a PREDATORS 2010 mode would be the best one ever…
can someone post a link to all this “official annoucements” your all discussing ?
It’s a PlayStation blog post, hold on a sec.
And back, here you go…
yea sure hold up
I always forget people can only commit to a single game therefor can’t try out GoT multiplayer and the new gamemode on PH:G in the same timeframe.
Want a break from GoT -> Play PH:G update -> want break -> play something else or go back to the former
Impossible, one must kill the other even though they’re completely different genres. They are destined to destroy eachother.
