New Maps/Weather Ideas

Alright, I have big-brained up some ideas for some new maps for this game as well as possible conditions for players in the new environments. Also, this will include a new game option that will allow players to have map-specific cosmetics so they can have loadouts prepared for the different maps.

First, if the devs don’t wanna put in new maps they can put weather conditions on the current maps. For example, they can add-in rainy weather and cloud coverage to make the map look darker and greyer. Yes, this will take out the predator’s cloak and it will make it so that the visor cannot pick up warm targets as well due to them being cold from being wet and it will make it harder to hear sound queues. Now the fireteam will have reduced visibility and will be harder to hear. On top of their body temp being lower than normal if they mud up it will not last nearly as long due to the rain washing it off. Now you can counteract all the negatives for the predator by giving them a noise reduction due to the rain. You can also make it so they move fast or take reduced damage on rainy maps. But I think this would make it a challenge for veteran and new players alike on both sides to have to get used to not being able to have their normal perceptions.

You can also balance this out by making the rainy maps night ops missions or later in the day missions. Now if they choose to add night ops maps they can give the fireteam some basic night vision goggles by default, but they will not provide extreme levels of detail and colors.

Another weather condition/map they can add-in is a snow map like something from the start of AVP or you can have it as fireteam is trying to infiltrate an arctic research lab. This will make for a change of scenery as well as add an element of checking your cosmetics to see if you will blend into most maps. Now depending on if the map is gently snowing of a full-blown blizzard you can have improved visibility to extremely low visibility. Personally, I think there should be a random blizzard or two that happen per match and then they subside after a minute or two. You could give players a tall tale sign that the blizzard will be happening soon by the winds picking up (predator) and the tech dude informing the fireteam. This will cause players to plan around the blizzard since that is the time where the predator is most likely to strike. The blizzard would greatly reduce all players’ vision as well as sound queues. You can make it so the blizzard even slows all players and causes the predator’s cloak to malfunction if you really wanted.

Another Map you could add to the game is a city map from Predator 2. You can make it a part of the town that isn’t highly active. If you really wanted you can make the fireteam look like gangsters or mercenaries for hire with a map-specific cosmetic customization option. The map can have the predator use lamp posts, billboards, telephone posts, and the sides/edges of certain buildings as predicore options. Now, part of this map can take place in streets and back alleys but there will be parts where they have to go into a multistory building. Now the buildings can have destructible windows to make it so the players can break them with weapons and jump out of them. This will mean that pushback weapons will be extremely deadly as you can knock players off. The close quarters of the building will add a way for the fireteam to have a higher chance of killing the predator or the predator can AOE the fireteam since they are so bunched up.

Now, another map you can add is a mountainous map that could take place in Northern America or Canada where they have evergreen forests and tons of fog. This map will have a secret OWLF facility that the fireteam later infiltrates for mission objectives. Now since the trees won’t be as extravagant as the current maps trees you can have the predator cling to the sides of the trees or have very little wiggle room. To counterbalance the lack of moving from long branch to long branch you will have tons of trees to bounce to and for cover. Now you can add fog to the map to make it a little harder for the fireteam to see as well as the predator without using heat visor.

FInally the final map idea. The final map idea I had was something that I know most people wanted but with the announcement of Alien: Fireteam I do not know if this will happen. You can have the map take place in a temple (snow or jungle) or starship. This map will contain xenomorphs instead of regular unfriendly AI. The fireteam can be skinned as Colonial Marines if on a starship via cosmetic option. This can give players some AVP action they wanted since Alien Vs Predator (2010) came out. You can have part of the map covered in the xenomorph building structure and leave the rest of the map normal or destroyed. The addition of xenomorphs will greatly increase the urgency that both parties will have to complete their objectives since the xenomorphs could patrol areas or actively hunt down players. The death of a xenomorph will cause players damage if they are too close to the blood splatter. You can also have it so that a dead xenomorph causes the ground its body is on to deal damage over a small timeframe. You could also add an alternative objective for both parties to take down the predalien or queen on the map if the players do this it will reward them greatly since they will be a boss/miniboss.

Now to address the map themes you can add a customization option to give players the ability to have certain skins on certain maps. There is already a ton of loadouts in the game and I for sure only really use 4 of them so adding in new map-specific cosmetics so you can better blend into the map will make good use of all the loadouts in the game. They can even add them into field crates so you can have tons of customization for all characters.

I think night variants would be the place to start that include all new missions and weapon mods like flashlights/laser sights and NVG/Thermal (black/white)vision for FT

Night would work well given we have a UAV, there was flashlights and night vision goggles, the Predator lights up with cloak and thermal vision activation, and the bases have plenty of locations for lights. Hell the laser sight would even be a detriment for Predator because it’d be easier to spot. All the more reason to stick as a group and not blindly run into the jungle.

I agree they should start with night ops missions and add in night vision goggles and to make it fair the night vision goggles can have a limited battery life and recharge when not in use. Meaning they have to stick together more and be very vigilant and use your night vision when needed so your batteries can charge up.

Maybe FT have to turn the lights off manually like alarms

Lights could also provide cover for Predator as their brightness could mask lasers, plasma bolts and vision changes

Then they could throw in glow sticks for equipment so that players can throw them but they have like 5 when they start out. Giving FT plenty of options for seeing in the dark but also being venerable in the dark.

Also making it so if the FT gets spotted the AI will have lights/night vision (for elite AI) that will then patrol the area.

And if the devs think it is too dark for FT to see they can add a full moon to brighten up the map a little and maybe add cloud physics to cover the moon at random times making the map darker.

Another idea is if they add the rain storms for night or day time missions they can add lighting in to brighten the map at intervals since the moon won’t be able to be seen if at night.

That would be very atmospheric

But the moon is also capable of illuminating especially the hunter’s moon

I understand, that is kinda what I am wanting it to be like. Very atmospheric to really get you in the mood for the hunt or to be hunted. And if they not only add that to current maps but any new maps as well it would make for tons of content so players would get thrown into many different scenarios where they have to communicate and play the game properly.

What I would really like is a neo tokyo style map set during a thunderstorm

The thunder could mask sniper shots and plasma bolts alike for some real stealthy gameplay

Yes night maps!

I would love that!

A game called don’t even think had a very good way of making it day time and then night.

I think that implementation into predator hunting grounds would be great

Maybe but I think it would be best to first test it as a whole other map set so they can see how players like it and make it easier to balance. Because there will be some players who will hate night maps and giving them a chance to have an all day/or sunest map over an all night/dusk map will give players a 50/50 shot of getting night or day. rather than them losing day over the time of the match.

I just read another map post and got an idea for another map! We could have a map on an alien world (not xenomorph world). They can change the opening cinematic to show everyone waking up after panning to the sky showing a clearly alien atmosphere. Then you can have an extremely exotic jungle with some fauna and flora that are hazardous to both players. With with map it would allow the devs to experiment with as much creativity as they want. FT’s objective on this map could be to leave the hunting grounds in 3 different ways. This prevents Predator players from camping certain spots thinking there is only 1 path to beating the map. Each ending could have FT leaving in escape pods meant for the Young Bloods (Noob Predators #Lore) on the planet.

Another person had said this and I totally agree with them. They should add thematic maps for each Predator skin. It would be very nice and it seems like a very logical thing to do.
