I’ve read the short story too, it’s fantastic dude, highly recommend it. These movies like Mandy really remind me of films like Suspiria from the 70s, with how fantastic their usage of colors are in their visuals.

Not communist. Means of production can be owned by private parties and there is capitalist competition market, e.i. not everyone is earning equal pay. Its just a historic association. China is different. It’s a true dictatorship and one party rule. Russia had many political parties.
