Yes, and that Giallo style of having intense color and visuals is one that impacted how colorful cinema as a whole was. Before there was more a significant focus on realism and a more “bland” style of filmmaking, with repetitive angles and sets designed for realism/period accuracy.
I’d personally argue that the unique camera angles, soundtrack, vibrant primary colors, purposefully unrealistic sets, and psychological aspects of Suspiria were all equally important in establishing the film as one of the hallmarks of horror, and it would likely have not had as large of an impact if any one of those were missing. Truly a masterpiece by Argento in my humble opinion.

Without a doubt another thing about the film, (and I think Phantasm (1979) does this even better) is that it truly feels like you’re watching someones nightmare play out. The colors, the soundtrack, everything just feels like a nightmare come to life in the best way.

However I think Phantasm captures this feeling even better because it not only captures the atmosphere and mood of a nightmare, but also the strangeness of them, and how nothing ever feels quite right. That’s why if I’m being honest Phantasm 1979 is one of if not my favorite horror film.
