Just out of curiosity, call me naive, how would you make a movie about a female lead in this setting without it being referred to as woke?

I mean, it’s an underdog story so it necessities that Naru is an novice. She is in the right setting to learn though because Comanche see warrior hunters, but you can’t just make her one without having a background about culture norms. If anything, there isn’t as much conflict in the movie about this as she’s not necessarily forbidden and does get opportunities to prove herself. I feel like she wants renown from her people that is mostly offered to hunters/warriors because their roles are most dangerous and she has no other way to get it. She doesn’t get an opportunity like Ripley or Connor to be in s back against the wall situation where it’s do or die, so that’s the only difference, in my opinion, between them.
Would the movie be less woke if the setting was a Comanche hunting party far away from home with her as a healer, tracker. Then you avoid the culture norms and it just becomes a survival fest where pred kills off nearly everyone and she tries to get revenge for brothers death and somehow succeeded having less training as compared to current situation?
Honestly what little conflict on that level there was felt natural because nobody was putting her down as a person, several straight up go “She’s a good tracker & great healer” and they just said she wasn’t ready/skilled enough at actual Hunting and thought it was better for her to stick to Tracking & Herbalist duties which in a Hunter Society are just as important since ya know, you need to actually find the animals in the first place & medicine is hard to come by let alone make in those times.

Ok, but many people say that Preds is a weak entery as well. Would that do the movie justice to have a character from a weak movie be the lead? How would Isabelle fair. She can track, survive and her only weapon is a slow ass heavy rifle. I don’t think it would make for an exciting plot.
