Night mode issues?

I really try not to complain about content in games when it comes to personal preferences and not what I see as objectively bad but I’m really struggling with the night maps and could use some tips (and if your comment basically amounts to “git gud” I’m just going to block you). How do you do ANYTHING as the predator at night? It doesn’t seem to matter if I’m in the trees or on the ground or standing perfectly still, fire team members ALWAYS spot me and I can’t ever see them (even if I’m in the trees right above them) unless I’m using my vision and that turns you into a glow in the dark target which is fine. I get why that’s balanced that way, but I don’t understand how you’re supposed to do anything if you can’t even see your targets without using the thing that results in your being immediately spotted and blow away. You can’t manually mark targets at night either between the visibility issue and the constant frantic movements the other players make just doing their thing. I understand that the predator has advantages that need balanced but it really feels like the devs’ idea of balance is just giving the fire team an easy mode the predator can’t opt out of without having to sacrifice 20 minutes of their time to the lobby gods and god damn are they fickle.

Honestly between the 10 minute wait time just to find a lobby (plus the extra 5 to fill up the player roster and start the match), the random failures to connect that require you to restart the countdown, and a total lack of ability to actually be successful in 70% of matches because they’re always night maps (literally, I get placed in like 5 night maps for every 1 day match) this game is really quick to lose its fun after a couple hours. I really want to like this game but it just keeps stopping me from having fun every chance it gets. Is something just not clicking for me?

Honestly using thermal as much as possible while also tagging them in thermal helps when using the normal vision.

As a fireteam member the only thing they’ve got is shitty NVG’s that rarely help and the spot feature that they’ll spam if they even see you for a second.

So best to my knowledge its just using thermal and tagging them while trying to avoid their spot spam, and also being aware of activating your cloak and being bloody in front of the fireteam as these will make you stick out like a sore thumb.

Night mode on itself is a issue.

You are not suppose to do anything as Predator, the cloak is shit. How else are Fireteam potatos suppose to have a chance to survive, game was balanced to help them, not Predator.

You can’t use the thermal at all without them killing you. It’s a bright yellow sign that says “Shoot here!” If you’re close enough to see them, they see you 100% of the time. There’s not enough time to flip it on and tag them and as soon as you turn your vision off again it untags them anyway.

They do fine on daytime mode, idk why the game needed balanced any more in their favor than a 4v1.

I’ve done all that. I’m already a stealth predator who mains the bow. Dunno what else I can do. I tried the smart disk but I hate it, it’s basically impossible to manually track a human player with it.

As far the noise, unfortunately they will hear it no matter what if you’re close, but if you switch it on when not in sight then you at least get a chance.

If anything try flipping it on early when you’re far away but know where they are, then at least you can get it close and be able to tag them.

Then once you tag them all you have to do is flip it on and simply glance at them and it refreshes the tag instantly.

The noise isn’t the issue, it’s the eyes. That doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t tag them at all from that far away and flipping it on to refresh the tags has the same problem of immediately being spotted and attacked. The only way I’m able to do it is if I happen to have a spot where I can be facing away from them and still see them (your camo hides your eyes from behind) but that really, really limits your mobility.

I even tried turning my brightness up but that just makes the fog glow.

I dunno what that means but nah, I’ll probably just uninstall the game since it seems that it’s just bad game design and not anything I’m doing wrong. I was considering buying some of the DLC classes but I guess I won’t waste my money.

Yeah. That’s what I do. Some predators have bad energy capacity and regeneration. @MustaEyolfPedes Which Predator do you play with?

Are you speaking of private games vs premade team or random public matches?

Because if it’s the latter, it’s a git gud probem.

You should turn up gamma slightly and your contrast slightly lower. Should brighten up dark areas in other games as well.

I hate night maps too and I get them very often just like you. I do think you need to improve your strategy though… I suck at this game and I do win most of my public matches, even at night.

Don’t give Illfonic one single cent. It’s NOT worth it. They have been given feedback about bugs and issues the game has and they do NOTHING about it.
