Our disapproval for woke being showed in to in 80s franchises

You’re welcome to prejudge Skulls, I only joined the conversation to point out that Ridley went against eighties gender norms to cast Ripley as a women. Just because someone put out a description that included gender norms is no reason in my mind to jump to conclusions about it. Look how Alien turned out, it went against convention and is celebrated for it and the character of Ripley is a fan favourite across the board.

Some movies do try to hard to check boxes, some movies are badly written, acted, or directed. If your take away is that this doesn’t fit Predator, that’s cool man. I’m curious to see what they do but don’t have any stake in it other than wanting it to be good and show the Predator off at every opportunity.

I imagine an extended sequence where a hidden human, maybe our protagonist gets to watch the Predator from hiding. I’d have them watch from in the water as to disrupt their heat signature. This way the protagonist has a reason to understand what a Predator can do. We as the audience can watch uninterrupted as the Predator makes a kill/trophy taking and this to me can happen in a movie like this.
I don’t think the movie will have a deeply political message though, I think it will be subtext like in Aliens. Might be wishful thinking on my part but that doesn’t mean I think you’re not allowed to have a different view, especially with so little information.

Alien was NOT about gender norms - gender norms was not even in the air - movie was about space truckers fighting an alien, period

I’m really happy that you did, and I respect your opinion

Thank you ,I will ;-)

This.
It featured a female protagonist surviving an alien.

Is that the gender norms part?
She almost gets newspaper’d by Ash. It’s not like she was dueling men and playing men’s football. Decision-making? Is that the gender norm?

I don’t consider final girls in Jason movies to be breaking gender norms either. Is the norm that theyre supposed to lay there and die?
Was Glover breaking racial norms by not being the first black guy to die in a horror movie?

a spec ops team thinking they were going against soldiers till most of them died, only one of em had an idea of what was happening and he was Comanche, and he sacrificed himself to fight the monster he SENSED since the start of the movie, will go more on this later, Preds are cocky, that’s how they lose, because they underestimate their prey, Dutch won because of traps, not because he was a 80’s macho man, he tried punching the pred and that just resulted in the Pred looking at him like “Really? Aight lemme try then”

So, you know how Kee is a truth teller and a Warrior? So is Billy, they are setting this up to explain why Billy recognized the Pred presence in the jungle, it’s likely Kee or her brother are his ancestors, will also fit with the voodoo bs from the second movie where the voodoo mob boss could sense the Pred too

Ok… are you talkin about Billy? If so, can you tell me where did you get the info that he was a Comanche. I’m not trolling or anything, Its just I did not know that before. Can you refer me to source please?

Hollywood can’t even discern between different kinds of asian much less native american tribes

XDDDD
Reason I’m asking is quz I have a source stating he was a Mayan descendand - not Comanche. Not saying both are impossible at the same time, but source I have mantions nothing about Comanche roots

He is said to be half native-american(although it was probably a different tribe) and half italian in the novel for the first movie, and his actor also has native blood

Time to start this all over again XDDDD

No man im not even about to read all that you are confused from the first three sentences I already know it. Any where in ANY movie no matter what EQUIPMENT/WEAPONS you have the xenoes will turn a highly populated town into a ghost town. They are “The ultimate weapon”. Killed the shit out the engineers too who have more advanced tech than maybe even the yautja. ;) come again big bruh

Ripleys character possessed so many traits that the xenos had and DID NOT. She was fearless, smarter than maybe even the queen, and pure aggression. She was almost seemingly on a deathwish.

I only wish Hicks or some other marines gave her more traning but then again some women or most ive met or shown to shoot learn wayy faster then the men. Deadliest shooter ever is some russian sniper female i believe 300 plus confirmed kills. ^ ^

trigger pull = finesse

Wasn’t it a theory that the yautja got their texh from the engineers? Maybe it was a fan theory and not an official one

Yeah it was a fan theory. A cool one, but one that was disproven with the Alpha Predator. They got the tech from that race that enslaved them, can’t remember the name though.

Bit off topic but I just thought of something that I think would be pretty cool to see.

Why don’t we get an anthology series? One with different stories every episode. We could get different preds, different protagonists and different time periods each time. I think it’d be pretty neat to see something like this and they could go all out. It’d be pretty fun seeing the different stuff they could come up with each time and it would always be fresh I mean there’s endless possibilities for it really.

I think it was briefly mentioned in a comic or novel but never confirmed. I have read them all or most of them published back in the 90s the new stuff is cool too but I can tell its for the younger generation…not me.
