Oh my goodness, the Chamber of Secrets is just as bad as the first one! The set pieces were far more interesting this time though. At least there’s that. But FFS, what a bottle of farts!

Movies. I haven’t read the books. My wife challenged me to watch them and compare to LOTR (which she hates). And they are bloody awful so far.
Yeah i rewatched them all a few months ago. Only 1 or 2 of them I actually thought were okay. I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I’d be, or how I remembered them when I was younger. Don’t care to watch them again

I mean having read the books as a child and watched through the movies when they threw them up on HBO, I could pick apart every one of those statements. But I don’t wanna type that much. :P There’s a lot of supplementary text and stuff.
I think you said you’re only on two. Let me know what you think about the cinematography in three.
I doubt that, but I shall. I’m sure the books are far more detailed etc than the films. They always are. I just do not find any of this world engaging. George Martin worked a long time on GoT also and I find that worse than HP on every single level (and because he’s an old perv). His world is like watching the Evil Dead series, but not only does Ash die in the 1st movie, the selfish dick Scotty is the template for almost all the other characters! At least HP is far superior to GoT. It’s got that going for it.
But, I’m older than most here, I’ve said as much many times. I grew up with the greats, like Spielberg and Eastwood at the helm. So many of today’s projects I find tedious and not very inspired. It takes a lot to truly impress me. Whether it be acting in the caliber of Sir Ian McKellan, miniature work like the kaiju films of old, action sequences like Raiders of the Lost Ark and Saving Private Ryan, scenes as tense as the final scene in Unforgiven and Alien or spectacle as grand as the Fellowship of the Ring or almost any John Ford western, all these make the Potter series thus far… superfluous at best. People in/on these films always work very hard to bring something to life, no doubt. But whether that thing was good to start with is another thing entirely.

I had a stroke reading this thread, and I kinda wish it killed me.
Sooo basically you went from crazy rants about HP to ‘anime sucks’ (you ain’t wrong there), through LOTR, and right back into HP. I mean idk, I read the books when I was like 8, never finished the movies, and recently watched lotr. I don’t remember shit about HP, the LOTR movies are fucking travesties compared to the books, but bagging either of these series on ANY public platform is complete suicide. Like, there are fucking SO many fans of both, you can’t critisize shit without being mauled. Seriously, the last time I was in a bar trying to get some, I told a cute girl the LOTR movies were bad, and she tried to glass me. I ain’t joking, these people are fucking insane.

I’m a fan of LOTR. In both book and film. How that could possibly misconstrued is a mystery. You brought that in your mind.

You didn’t shut it down. There was nothing else to be said, it would’ve been a one sided conversation like it already kinda was. And it was only about Berserk, I was never talking about manga or anime generally, as most of it is bad.
I asked to return to the topic at hand. To keep it in its lane. It stopped. Ergo, shut down. Not a bad thing. Dont read bad things into it that arent there. When I get around to Berserk, I’ll share my thoughts in its own thread, not here.
