I like the films just fine because, despite the theatrical versions editing out a ton of stuff, I get most of it. You gotta keep pace in the theatrical versions. And the extended versions cover most other stuff left on the cutting room floor. It’s there if you want it, which I did. So I’m satisfied with both film versions. IMO, they’re some of the finest films in existence on every level. I’ve only seen one other film with as much care taken to be accurate to the source material. Are they perfect? No. No adaptation ever is, but damn, they came close. Every single thing hit enough marks to please me. The acting, sets, effects, costumes, music, all of it. Almost no complaints and the ones I had were answered in the extended cuts.
I may be old, but I’m still awesome on every level.
