So far, how much do we know about these Tapes?
Have they revealed anything Really Significant for the Game?
Was Given any hints of what will be added to the Game in the Future?.
OWLF Tapes and "Dutch" Tapes.
It’s to provide backstory to the universe given the game lacks a central narrative.
It revealed where Dutch had been since 87 which was a very big deal since Dutch hadn’t officially appeared in anything since then and is the first time Schwarzenegger returned to the role since the original film. Cleopatra makes her first appearance in those tapes revealing that Dutch got so good at fighting Predators she came to put him in his place (it’s why he has the netgun scars). Presumably this Predator is on its way robbing film Predators of the shuriken which will be a variant weapon for the smart disk.
The normal OWLF tapes fill in where the OWLF has been since Predator 2 revealing that going into the 2000’s Predator encounters had been on the downturn until they suddenly exploded following 2018. It’s not that nothing was happening but the OWLF didn’t really have much to do and they got replaced for Stargazer which is why they’re in The Predator. They’re active for all of 2 years before The Predator meaning that any history you see in the cabinets of previous encounters like from the AVP films aren’t even theirs and that despite being the only unit to bring in a Predator alive it’s treated as a bad thing despite that being OWLF’s goal in Predator 2.
I haven’t heard the new tapes yet but I’m already annoyed they’re downplaying the Predator killer when we could’ve gotten a cool class out of that but instead got a shit sniper rifle, a football player, 2 vikings, and an OC robbing 3 film preds of weapons. No one is off the table but I’d be lying if the devs didn’t have a bias.
