OWLF thermal suit does not work properly

The OWLF is significantly BRIGHTER in the predators IR view when he is mudded up then when he is not mudded up.

This does not comply with my understanding of physics - at least it likely is NOT intuitive for most players…

It might even be a bug?

Probably a bug. But OWLF Ops dont need to muddy.

Hmmm, I am not sure - is it not the mudding, which prevents the red marker above the head of a soldier when the predator is in IR view?

No idea… Whenever I rarely play Pred, happened randomly twice yesterday oddly enough, I barely use IR at all. So do not have much experience with the OWLF Op, just one game vs one.

Yes. And target isolation. If OWLF gets brighter after muddying up then it was a glitch. But you should still muddy up regardless.

Mud does prevent target isolation but not the red marker.

Wait wait wait. You’re telling me something in this game doesn’t work properly?

I don’t believe you.

There were said that: ‘‘OWLF Operative class. Equipped with a thermal suit, the soldier’s infrared signature will be difficult for all to track. This power player will not need to mud up much, if at all’’. Well, It seems that ain’t true :D

Didn’t you show screenshots of all the variants (mudded, unmudded, Ice Cold perk etc)?

Ya. He’s easier to see then regular soldiers when surrounded by A.I

This is a quite good example that the game mechanics of PHG sometimes are so complicated that even Illfonic obviously is not able to manage them properly. Interesting for veterans, horrible for beginners.

Now, please tell a beginner: should he mud up and when should he mud up? The posts above are partly contrary in this question.

Let me add one impression of mine to that too: mudding does not prevent target isolation - right? It seems to prevent getting markered red - right?

Let’s do a small survey…

  • mudding prevents getting target isolated
  • mudding does not prevent getting target isolated
  • mudding prevents getting red-markered
  • mudding does not prevent getting red-markered
  • mudding should decrease the thermal signature in ALL cases
  • mudding should not decrease the thermal signature in ALL cases
  • mudding is a beauty measure…
