No you dont have to buy them.

@Courier said in the patch notes that if you buy the dlc you dont have to spend vt on all of them other than that it cost vt to unlock them

Grinding VT is boring, I don’t have enough stored to go binge on loot boxes and even after the drop rates the hate that RNGesus has for me is so strong I was barely getting gold tier items.
