Parry is broken af

Sorry but no, i understand your argument, but the way parry is now is absolute garbage.

Im fine with a parry mechanic for the FT to defend themselves…ONE OR TWICE. The stun has to go, that makes no sense, the FT should be stunned by a melee from a Pred, so my take is:

Allow FT to parry 1 or 2 times before the stamina is all gone and they get “fatigued”, this gives the team a chance to chase him away if they are coordinated.

Stamina on FT is broken, if they jump, it doesnt drain stamina, so bunnyhopping is a big problem.

Make FT drain stamina on physical activities, and we are on the right path. A Pred probably gets tired, never met one, but i have been in the Army.

Jumping with a rifle, ammo vest and other gear will make you tire ,QUICK, so they could atleast TRY to reflect that in this game, so the predator doesnt have to face the Avengers instead of normal soldiers.

this is at least some kind of approximation, something to build on

However it was important to point out the other side here and that some kind of mechanics are necessary for minimum of defense - simply removing can’t be an option at this general state of the game

thank you ^^

P.S.:
it’s perfectly acceptable that a single FireTeam member alone doesn’t stand a chance - that’s what the asymmetry is about - absolutely OK
But to have no option at all, just by encounter a predator on a single player, can’t be realistic either, according to the realism ideas mentioned at the beginning - and, of course, for the gamePlay itself

I like the parry mechanic but I do belive it needs some balancing, maybe parry should only be possible against wrist blades and smart disc while proper melee weapons can’t be affected by it. If a Predator player doesn’t take his time to pull out the melee weapon out of his “inventory” and only use the wrist blade(or smart disc) to deal damage, then parrying should be a viable option to fight against him ,but if the Predator player pull out a melee weapon(stick, sword or club) then close combat should be suicide since.

I noticed that you can instantly use the wrist blade while a ranged weapon is equiped, while a melee weapon takes some time for him to equip it, so why not use this as a mechanic? You can prevent from being parried if you spend a slot and also using your time to pull out a melee weapon, but the disavantage is that you will be vulnerable for a few moments.

I belive they should focuse more on this aspect of the Fireteam, like you said, weapons and vest should tire them, make mini gun slow them down even if they have on their slot, jumps and sprinting should drain more stam and make stam regen slower.
The Predator should be able to easily outrun them, and the Fireteam should only sprint when necessary, this could prevent the Fireteam from rushing through missions and from hunting a Predator, while the Predator could run away to heal himself or use the brash decisions of a FT of hunting him to his favor.

There are more problems than that. insane DMG with knife, running faster than predator, even in second wind stamina depletes, no leap, they just put it there to prolong the match. It’s like nobody play tested this at all. Ppl just spam “E” on the map doesn’t matter cloak or not, you can be “seen” and once you are, you can’t escape. Predator stamina is bugged. Perk for recharging energy also bugged.

Why not have more melee weapons for the FT that all serve different functions for example, regular knife is good for getting out of traps and helping teammates out of traps however it is not able to parry. a small combat axe that can still be used to get out of traps but not as effective and can only parry smaller pred weapons I.e. wrist blades, smart disc, elder sword. A machete that cannot be used for escaping traps or helping teammates but can be used to parry the larger pred melee weapons.

Parrying should not deal damage it should stun the predator or knock it back some to give your team time to attack, it shouldn’t be a death sentence for the predator. If you’re the last on the team your only option should be to reinforce the team (muddy yourself up and run) not singlehandedly best the predator in hand to hand combat.

I expect the bugged ones to be fixed by the end of this month or in the start of the next, but the rest, they could easily balance it out like:

Knife: Knife, in a fight, should be a resource and maybe last option, like the Predator is barely keeping it up and in second wind. Reduce it’s damage and only be a viable option against wrist blades and smart disc since it could parry them, while the sword and combistick can only be deflected(but useless since the following attacks are too fast to deflect) and the club while being slow is impossible to deflect. And increase the parry/deflect frames, such thing should be a act of pure skill from the player(make it “Royal block” tier).
It’s main focuse is serving as a tool to break free from certain equipments, like @REYNOSO_FUA11 said, it should be a tool to allow you to barely made it out of a fight against the Predator

Run: This one, like I said in the post above, both the speed and stamina of the Fireteam should be limited, their stam should be burned out when peforming enough physical activities(jumping and running should be a bad combo) and stam should slowly regen back, running should be a last resort and one that you use when commiting to something(you want to escape, use reinforcement, chase a dying Predator). Make their equipments tire them down, make Support slower, make mini gun drain stamina and slow them down even when not equipted(could limit it to the Support too), make FT Scot faster then the others but slower then Berserker(but make him a “flower”, two or three hits and he is down), make FT Recon second fastest but with less stamina then FT Scout.
The Predators should be alot faster then the Fireteam, Scout Predator should be able to easily outrun them and the Berserker Predator to outrun by endurance test, in this way hunting a Predator would be a commiting action, you COULD catch up to him but you can’t escape from him if he starts winning, which could happen since Scout can catch up to him but he could be easily killed by doing so or if the Predator catch their Support alone.

Second wind: The Predator should be able to attack, claim, move nomally and cloak, except he can’t sustain combat for very long and is more vulnerable, meaning you can commit just enough to claim or down someone, but escaping should be your priority. Remove the white glow from him and just add a energy malfuction as a image signal, and keep the “warning” in case someone don’t realise he is in second wind.
The healing of the second wind also should be faster, normal healing should take long to do it but second wind healing should be faster, maybe have him sticking the blue spikes in his abs and that’s it.

IMHO there should be a single class that can parry the Pred, maybe an oriental fire team member with a sword (like you see from the Predators film in the long grass). A restriction of one of this class per team would also help.

This class would also be a high-ish level to unlock.

I’ve seen plenty of Pred’s killed without using this Knife exploit (as this point it’s become one) so balancing the whole concept would be better, not worse for the game. I certainly don’t use it, never will.

The only people crying if it gets sorted are the one’s right now griefing Pred players with it for the lulz.

I’ll also add i’m yet to play pred in the full game, queue’s too long to play, and I’m enjoying the fire team gameplay chasing them unlocks just fine.

Yea they need to do something about it…give it a cool down at the very least or something

So first off I dont have some wild predator fantasy In here where hes this u billable machine I agree with everything jo is sayn but I’d add somthing like a grab mechanic where he can execute people that have been downed multiple times an a throw option to remove a solider for the direct fight maybe beserker only. I think a class for the fireteam with a sword who’s meant to make the predator would be a fantastic idea but I’d stress there should be a limit to how many of the same class can be chosen then or it’s nothing but the same thing. All predators should be able to outrun a human no problem or shouldn’t even be a match for anybody but a sword wielder but this fool who thinks it’s all or nothing is delusional they melee is broken that’s all I’m saying add a durability to the knife or a cooldown it’s not a hard concept to grasp but acting like this melee issue isnt excatly that makes u one of the losers abusing the game

I loved everything JP said

Ty Illfonic the parry is much much better
