Parrying change's and ideas.

So with the current parry system as it is now. For those who don’t know what the parry system is yet or what is wrong with it. I will give a breakdown…

Parrying system. Simply put when the predator comes at you. you either pull your knife out and get ready to push R3 (if on ps4) when he swings at you. Doing this causing the predator to become stunned for a moment allowing an opening for you to gain some distance. (i’m sure this is how it was intended.)
the problem though the is fire team and easily exploit this and use I to kill even the best predators.

So what are some ideas everyone has on ways to balance or fix the parry system to make it fair on both ends? Below I will list a few ideas that have come up between the group I play with…

The first idea is making the Parry system tie into the stamina system. Meaning you would be able to parry once or twice before you are out of stamina. Along with this removing the stun on the pred or adding a stun to the fireteam member who parrys the pred.

The second idea is making said fireteam members still take damage. Reduced by half meaning that while yes they parry it is at the coast of their own life. Since it is very unrealistic that a 4-inch place is going to stop an Elder sword, war club, or Combistick… I could see them parrying the wrist blade or smart disk… Just not a sword club or spear…

Third idea is to remove the parry system and replace it with a dodge/roll feature. meaning that a fireteam member could get away from a hit or two.

Or the fourth idea is simply to remove the stun from the parry.

So what do all of you guys and girls think? What would be some balance ideas you have that could be made to balance out a currently broken/exploited system?

I love all of those ideas

Thanks. My team and myself have read all the threads about parrying and while yes it is annoying that people exploit it. They can make small changes that can fix all of that.

Honestly adding a penalty to it sounds wonderful as it isnt even necessary to win (I didn’t even know parrying was a thing until I was stun locked into a firing squad)

Why not just make the parry window tighter

A high Risk Reward. Kinda like sekrio if you pull it off it’ll give you time to get away or shoot the mask

Awesome ideas. Personally, I like the roll idea, I’ve been thinking about that since day 1. But yes, the current state of the parry system is way too overpowered, even as Berserker a single person can spam parry while everyone else just demolishes you.

I, like a few others put up my ideas thread for it. For fuller details if you can fine read and let me know, but gist of it was almost the same except stamina was tied to class type and diminishing block % based on predator class, and weapon. No specifics detailed but basically you can pull one or two damage free blocks (support would get two) but after that your block let chip damage through, Bezerker would see the bigger hits but hes slower. Weapon like the club would a some extra chip damage.

Weapons could have bigger window or smaller window to parry, not massive but something to give weapons a up and down.

This is to prevent dragged out 1v1 but not encourage a sole melee rush. Attacks dont do the 100% damage offering a chance if good players block but if you can ambush one alone, you can over power him before squad can back him up. If the squad is ready for you, you probably wont win against all four at once.

This not considering The Big Boy Staff Rush. Which Im sure will be toned down soon.

Honestly I have a friend who just picked up the game. Spamming the hell out of the parry button still works. Though could be more like sekiro and punish the FT for missing a parry

Yea All the rolling stuff is nice and stuff but that would just leave you open to the net gun and combi. This makes it a last ditch effort and creates tension. So when you do pull it off the predator got out played And you saved you ass and get away if not well you’re dead lol.

I used to have a problem with the Parry, but the netgun usually stops all that from happening. Wrap em’ up before you stab em

I dig the third/fourth idea!

I also like the idea of tightening the window like in Sekiro

Would still prefer if they introduced larger, more believable blades to counter a Predator weapon… but I’m sure that’s coming in the future ✓

I think the fourth idea is good, if you just removed the stun off the parry then the pattern in which the preds attacks come in are variable. This would make all melee weapons relevant cause they each have their own respective combos
