Patch Notes 1.10 (not the real ones - just suggestions)

Hoping a patch comes out tomorrow and we get some cool stuff like this:

  • General

    • Backwater has been taken out of the roster until we get rid of the reason that most bugs happen on this map. A temporary unused prototype map will be put in its place.
    • We understand we are asking console players to play against PC players so we have implemented:
      • A better controller experience
      • Advanced controller options
  • Fireteam

    • General
      • Spot no longer works on a 100% invisible Predator
      • Spot has a longer cooldown
      • A spotted Predator is no longer highlighted behind an object
      • There is now a small area area around the reinforcement radio which acts as a safe zone where bear traps cannot be placed
      • Players are immune to damage for 5 seconds after they are respawned from reinforcements
      • A Fireteam tutorial has been added; players will be shown the importance of teamwork and about staying close the the radio when calling reinforcements
      • Objectives will be added that require the Fireteam to split into groups of 2 whilst still remaining in relative close proximity to the other group
      • We have fixed the issue where Fireteam could complete missions and get to the chopper in 5 minutes
      • A player leaving a Fireteam before reinforcements are called will have Veritanium deducted. If they are repeatedly leaving before reinforcements are called, they will have to wait until the game finishes in order to join the matchmaking queue
  • Predator

    • General
      • The Predator tutorial has been reworked to show players different ways to play than just Berzerker + combistick
    • Weapons
      • Combistick now leaves a trace when thrown
      • The traces from arrows and combistick now last slightly longer, increasing the chance players will be able to work out where a 100% invisible Predator is
      • Combistick stamina usage increased; players will have to think more tactically about whether to melee attack a 4 player Fireteam or whether a ranged attack may be appropriate
      • Bear traps now have a slowing effect on those caught; time period of slowness matches that of arrows
      • We have put a pause on being able to destroy the Smart Disc until we stop the disc being able to get lodged in thin air

Reply and add what you would like to see.

Edit 1: spelling
Edit 2: added FT general point 3

New Map Please.

Definitely no trace on the combistick. Having it on arrows is already silly. It’s an arrow not a glow stick.

Its to balance out the FT not being able to spot a 100% Predator.

Trust me, I love the fact combistick doesn’t have a trace, but in the above case, I think it should. It doesn’t mean they are guaranteed to see you however.

I like it and I’m FT hardcore atm

Cool. Ive tried to make it fair and balanced…no spam spotting, but Pred trails are easier to see. Seems like a very Vulcan logical way to fix it.

I mean I get it, and it’s not totally outlandish. I just…the predator has been so thoroughly nerfed already. His stealth is so inadequate already. Between spotting, cloak ineffectiveness while moving, constant directional audio, weapons that light up like Christmas trees, and arrows that leave disco trails, do we REALLY need more ways to find the predator?

lol I love how you word things; ā€œglow stickā€ and ā€œdisco trailsā€ XD

I must confess my play style is mix of standing 100% invisible firing arrows and combistick OR jumping around like a vicious Monty Python rabbit of death.

Personally I find that the cloak is good enough for when standing still, whilst jumping around the cloak seems adequate enough.

HOWEVER I play against all PS4 teams and I imagine its harder to move around to see a jumping Pred.

Honestly, those points I put in there about spotting and trails are there so I can turn crossplay back on. I’ve got it off because I just couldn’t take the spam spotting PC meta any longer. Since then I have felt like a stealthy Predator once again. However PS4 random teams are very easy and I wouldn’t mind turning crossplay back on…as long as spotting is sorted like in my points or something similar.

In short…I hope this doesn’t come across like a Pred nerf and more of a balance thing between PS4 and PC.

Nah I get where you’re coming from. And thank you I take pride in my ability to turn a phrase šŸ˜€
I’ll just add that I’ve come up against plenty really good ps4 teams. One spotter, one or two snipers, and couple support. Very tough to beat when you can’t approach that guy who’s constantly watching for you and calling out your position unseen or unheard.

Just played a good PS4 team, honestly the first one in a while. Good sniper made things annoying, shot my mask off eventually. However, got the 7 ball win with 13 seconds to go. GG

Seriously bro. Most of what I just read are the hopes and dreams of a struggling player who wants things that will compensate for where they struggle. Tracers from the combistick? It’s not bullets. Forcing the fireteam to split up so it is easier for the pred player to engage them with a higher chance of survival? Spot cooldown? If you can keep an eye on the predator’s position, you deserve to be able to spot it.

The most nonsensical thing you put up there is the idea of forcing the fireteam to split up. That clearly says you are bad at engaging them as a team and that is your personal problem to improve on. If Illfonic were to adopt that idea I would toss the game in my fire pit.

I don’t agree with the reinforcement buffs. If the Predator finds the radio and wants to risk wasting time and resources, then let him. I’m pretty sure I’ve destroyed a couple bear traps and countless motion detectors, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

If you call reinforcements when the Predator is there, you’re pretty much asking them to fight. The five seconds of invincibility would be too much. That can be a LOT of health for a Predator.

As for changes that I would add:

  • Matchmaking penalty to any player that disconnects willingly while you are alive. Just deducting vertianium won’t be enough for a lot of players.

  • Bleed outs and claims on dead Fireteam bodies will count as kills for the Predator. The game will not end until all Fireteam members have been claimed. The Predator is the reason is you’re bleeding out and I don’t think you should lose points because someone DCed or you can’t reach them in the time.

  • You can keep ā€œleveling upā€ after reaching level 100. It’s requires the same amount of XP and you get the same rewards.

  • The Net Gun will prevent trapped Fireteam members from jumping. I was thinking about adding a slight movement speed reduction, but that might push it over the edge.

  • The AI will run or attempt to hide when the Predator is claiming Fireteam members. Getting swarmed by the AI as Predator when trying to get claims is really annoying and is really stupid on the part of the AI. If you see a big alien take down a team of highly trained soldiers and is currently ripping out their spines, why the hell would you shoot at it and risk pissing it off instead of running or hiding, especially when said soldiers are better trained and equipped than you?

Combistick parry range/radius increased

I’d just like to say I think the A.I. should actually preference the Predator, it’s not human, those soldiers should see it as a common enemy.

Don’t fully agree on the changes to spotting. It’s not a huge issue on ps4. Then again I’ve said before that crossplay should be abandoned and both versions balanced separately.

For a compromise with spotting I’d suggest a shorter highlight time for the pred. Maybe 2 seconds at first and see how it goes. Reduce to one second later if needed.

I think you should be able to spot out a fully cloaked pred if he’s firing. I’d be willing to try out a week or so with not spotting him while fully cloaked and not engaging.

Alternatively I’d say highlight where he was at the time you spotted him but not highlight him moving after the spot. To balance this new advantage the pred would have I’d remove his magical ability to have an alert when he is spotted. How could he possibly know I have spotted him? It would be good to highlight him where he was first seen and let the team start aiming without him being told on screen. A good pred would know something is up when the FT stops and aims his way. That’s his cue to move.

Fully agree with the bear traps on the radio. A better idea imo would be that the radio isn’t there or is inactive until the reinforcements mission is available.
Alternatively let him lay traps but make them destructable with guns. Nothing worse than carefully stealthing to the radio to find it camped and booby trapped by the pred. It’s also crazy that he can trap a doorway and you can see the trap but not destroy it so you are forced to enter a trap that you can see.

Would not force the FT to split up as the zerker noobs will just wait for this moment. Maybe put in objectives that will be faster or give bonus veritanium if the team splits up which will tempt them to break up the group but don’t force it. It’s bad enough shooting up that stupid water pipe for 5 mins straight making tons of noise and using all your ammo.

Add a longer delay between net gun shots or reduce total net gun ammo. Some preds just spam it.

More cool down time between slams. To prevent the pred downing someone with a slam then downing the guy reviving him with another slam. It’s a skill less move.

You mean bear traps aren’t destructible? I could’ve sworn I destroyed a couple in the past.

I assume they’re all hitting? How is that working out for the Predator? I would think that one or two FT members break out before he’s finished spamming it and he eventually runs out of ammo or he misses and is forced to stop or retreat because you guys are jumping all over the place and firing at him.

The combo stick already takes alot of stamina to use now what do we get 2 swings?

I have never destroyed one. Maybe some other players can reply and confirm?

For the net gun I spose it depends on the players skill. I’ve seen 3 guys netted before. It’s not a massive issue but it’s a bit weird seeing loads of nets flying around like crazy.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I prefer realism

I hope they got a good list of bug fixes ! Improvement of the fps would be great. I hope they’ll add more than just a pred class. New maps/modes are needed !
