Exactly my point - its not them that decide what to add or what to change - its Sony. Viking and Samurai preds are best examples of that. Both were added 2 weeks before two AAA games release dates respectively - Assassins Creed Valhalla and Ghosts of Tsushima.
This alone shows you that Illfonic is just Sony’s employee, sort of a subcontractor that needs to follow strict instruction. My bet is, Illfonic HQ doesn’t know themselves what direction (if any) this game is heading. They are just awaiting instructions from Sony.
People and their stupid ideas
I want to assume this is coincidence but lol
Not a chance
What is the reason to WASTE RESOURCES and create new, completely lore unrelated preds that no one was asking for?
Viking was added 2 weeks before AC released and same goes for Samurai - 2 weeks before GoT. Those were pure cash grabs and an attempt by Sony to attract more players, that are not necessarily in to pred lore but are waiting for their games to come out. It worked though
I’m 100% sure Dante is the same case as two above, just can’t connect him to anything that wolud attract people to a video game
So yes, Illfonic does not know what will be in the next DLC… only Sony knows
Pred skins aside though (assuming some are tied to major launches), we’re completely in the dark about modes, gear, the state of weapons etc
like who tf over there thought King of the Hill (and with 0 incentives to play it) was a mode people were going to play for any length of time? They could’ve sooner asset flipped TDM.
Point being there’s no back and forth at all. no vision for this game and they refuse to have a stance on anything at all.
No, Courier just had a better sense of humor. (jk girl you’re the best <3)
Listen, I understand how property and media licenses work when it comes to characters, names, places, and what studios are allowed to do. We want this, we want that, when in reality, we likely never will get it because they (the owners of the character trademark) either don’t want to for whatever reason or are charging an extreme amount to license that character out. We’re lucky we got Dutch, with authentic Arnold VA lines (I bet that’s where most of the budget went). Things cost money and resources, and if Illfonic is such a tiny team, they have little of each to make the title better. I think understanding that, is the key to understanding why so little of our ideas are implemented.
That being said, if more communication between them and you, and from you to us, could be done, we would all appreciate it. Very, very obvious things, like the sound bug, Exiled’s locks, damage and health balancing on both sides…let us know those are things being worked on, if not at least considered. And other things, like patch progress, little hints to what’s to come (that is confirmed, not still in negotiation), or even just a simple hi.
Or, better yet, a thank you, for those of us who have stuck with the game through all of the bs, and still do, for better or for worse. I think THAT would be most appreciated above all.
After spending thousands of hours discussing, training/teaching, being patient and trying to understand, and trying to rally hope for this game and the devs, yeah I’d appreciate a hello howdy hi. But, that’s not what I’m about to get at.
After doing some digging and making some educated guesses… Illfonic is kinda fucked. All this time they seemed to have been led to the slaughter by Sony. Perhaps Disney also had a say in what a mess this game has become. Unfortunately, Disney won the case over the Thomas Brothers, even though law dictates the IP should belong to them since the contract expired but I’m rambling.
Point is, giving Illfonic a break. They did their jobs pretty well. Aside from bugs that I’m now convinced they simply cannot fix due to a chain leash Sony has around their neck. Doesn’t quite excuse the poorly modeled Super Preds however. That’s simply an employee allocation error, 6 people can’t seem to maintain this game. Making mistakes Digital Extemes is with Warframe. Need to get more people back working on this game.
Considering we already had City Hunter and Dutch 25 ready to ship before the game even released, we can assume most of year 1 was drip-fed. Content was finished but not being released until an opportune time. i.e. Samurai and Viking, GoW and GoT.
I get you guys have your hands tied and won’t expect as much. But considering now you have your own game, Arcadeggedon shipped, and an established fanbase for YOUR company, I’d advise terminated exclusivity contracts and doing what YOU want to do. This whole console war bullshit is nothing but trouble and always will be. If there’s one thing Digital Extremes did right, it was go independent and have Sony and Microsoft eating out of their palms.
