Performance Boost Setting for PC

We all know this game is poorly optimized and suffers massive frame drops even on High End GPU’s like a 2080 Ti. It has been very frustrating having to choose between playing on stable FPS with crap looking visuals or having good visuals with constant frame drops. So, I’ve tried everything and browse the net as much as I could for a better temporary fix until developers fix the game (which, they might not do, EVER).

I stumbled upon this nice argument that is improving performance massively for me.

You will need to set this in the Epic Games Launcher. You will also need a GPU with enough VRAM, at least 8GB. Back Water was consuming about 7.5GB of VRAM and Derailed was around 7.8GB. Maps and menu will take a bit longer to load. Framerate will go down until textures are loaded, but once they are, performance is much more stable.

Give it a try and see if it helps

So texture on low? Because I play with medium and I tryed to lower texture and I gain like 10 fps, that is pretty much.

This is like setting Textures on Cinematic or Epic. What this does is exactly how you explained it. Setting Textures to Low or Medium generally loads it in gradually or streaming i suppose.
Good catch!
I also recommend installing an Nvm.M2 hard drive chip of the highest Read and Write speed you can find and install the game on this drive. Generally you will be paying more for R/W speed but the difference is spectacular in comparison to regular SSD drives!
Or slightly comparable. They are both ssds but NvM. M2 have a higher bandwidth.

I noticed that with texture on low the quality is almost the same or even the same of medium but some object Will download later. I think the game really need to be optimezed , the frame rate is so bad.

Not exactly. Setting textures to cinematic still streams the textures as needed, instead of preloading all of them to the VRAM.

I checked using RiVa Tuner and with this argument you can see the VRAM getting maxed out. Without it VRAM would go up to around 4-5GB on cinematic.

So i tried it just now. It changes the load time of the menu for sure and while you exit the game seemingly. Some slight lag but textures were loaded in as expected. Good find!

I just realized my CPU double fan had one fan disconnected for like 5 long months. I just plugged it back in…there was no change in PHG but the computer was less hot.

Nice dude!

Hello im Peter nice to meet you !!

I play on PS5, and when I play with PC-players in my lobby I always get huge frame-drops.
I even put my PS5 into FPS performance mode. This game is bs!!!

Because this game doesn’t actually have dedicated servers. Is peer-to-peer but uses amazon cloud servers for matchmaking (only). So, when playing on private matches, everyone’s frame rate will be as inconsistent as the one with the lowest end hardware or lowest performing one, as people with high end hardware, but playing on high graphics and high resolutions will have poor performance as well.

Also, for some strange obscure reason, ping seems to affect FPS. Makes no sense, but nothing on this game makes sense
