My sense is that it’s very strange…
The time to release it is past 4/17, but the actual permissions should have been made before 4/17.
In other words, the update was made before.
Why are they hesitant to release it if they have permission? I can’t figure this out…
I don’t know. All we can do is guess. Hopefully there will be a statement in may as to why april update did not release

The big question is how this copyright termination law applies to projects that have already started but not finished post a copyright termination date. There has to be at least some legal precedent that addresses that gray area. Will try researching it.
But if this new Predator work does indeed apply to this Anniversary Update, and an injunction would retroactively start on April 17th per the lawsuit… would Illfonic (had they released it) be required to de-update the content on people’s consoles and refund the buyers? If so, what kind of logistical nightmare that could be… and one can understand the delay.

I think on the scale of the IP and products they have already or planned to have ? This would be the first thing to pull the plug on , personally

Plus , there will be a domino effect with the game . If enough people have complained about the game? Which could be a possibility? Sony + epic games would have to go to illfonic and it would get back to disney etc . Or whatever the levels are, I cant believe that it wouldn’t turn heads ?.
So to put it simply? We could be in the stage of feathers being ruffled on the corporate levels.
I forgot to ask one thing.
Is it confirmed that the date of the hearing is May 27th?
I’m not familiar with the trial, but I have an image of it taking a very long time.
Does this mean that the trial for the rights dispute will be held on that day?
The 27th of May will just be a court hearing to decide if a judge should issue a Preliminary Injunction (a temporary stop on all new Predator works until the case is tried and there is a ruling - which could take months or even year(s) to conclude.)
So the trial itself will come later.
