I dont expect two screenwriters will have the leverage to put a cease and desist order HOWEVER I do see Disney doing it on literally any creative thing Illfonic might have in the bag. That said, the rights going over to two screen writers would probably allow illfonic to do some pretty extraordinary things.

Two guys who own the rights again only means that those two guys will have the rights to develop and own their own product. I’m not sure what that would be as screen writers don’t usually have money. Maybe a new inventive script? a reboot?

This is true , but as far as not having the leverage to put a cease and desist? I imagine they would if ownership is reverted. But with something like this if they are successful? They can either negotiate a deal to be part owners with a higher return or they cant take it all and explore who and where would be interested in the IP . I could see them staying with Disney in some way and requesting more creative control , with them being such a massive distribution? They would want the comics and a name behind their IP.

I dont blame them for wanting some of the pie from an IP they created and sold off , I doubt they sold it for very much and they probably lost alot of creative control . But they did sell at the time to be devils advocate.

They very well would want their IP to continue to flourish because it would be retarded to cut any business strings tied to it that would be positive and generate income . On the other hand if they see it tied to something perceived as not so positive and isn’t generating a decent income? Who could blame them for pulling the plug.

Time will tell , either way we will all find out

illfonic doing pretty extraordinary things… Sure… This game was cash grab and was never intended from devs to fix big issues and to add something good, only paid DLC-s.

PHG deserves to be shut down cuz it’s a big pile of garbage, only good thing about this game is sound/music, they really nailed it. Also predator customization menu is nice, other things are just poorly done.

As a hardcore predator fan I barely lasted 2 months playing this. I just hope the next predator game is going to be good and we should quickly forget that PHG ever existed.

I think its all about letting writers who may understand franchises better than Disney to take creative control before the public boos big companies.
Its like the same situation with Ridley SCott. Everyone knows RIdley takes alot of control over scripts written by other people, but the rights still remain with Disney.

It may be the opposite effect with the Alien franchise but there really is no powerhouse studio working with the PRedator IP at the moment.

ATM, it seems the new predator film might fall into this woke catagory of political mind space. Surely they expect to make a horror film and not a political power play?

Time will tell , if they have their finger on the pulse? They will know going woke isnt exactly a wise business decision .

There names have mostly been tied to all the movies , ive no idea if they were for the predator, but that could merely be in name only .

Its always a possibility they negotiate a bigger cut and not much else changes , which would be a shame .

Even if they stay on this game ? And give more creative choices? How much clout does that actually hold with this developer? They haven’t done anything to tell me that it would be any different outcome without this lawsuit and without lockdowns

These guys were behind the first two movies alot more , and they are arguably the best ones , so that speaks for itself and I know their names were tied to avp 1 and 2 , but like I said that could be nothing more than giving creative credit to the IP

There was a huge legal issue regarding sexual harrassment with someone Shane Black knew. With all this legal hoopla, i think it would be best for them to keep the franchise far away from Shane as much as possible. Seems like he has plenty to deal with already.

Maybe all this is just a damage control operation to clear the mud in the water. Beause if that sort of thing continues to haunt the franchise, there is no telling what a disaster it might prove to be.

What i knew of was Shane actually had a scene in the predator, munn was in it and it turned out the actor was a convicted sex offender . The scene was scrapped and thats the last I knew of it? .

It would be daft to say black is talentless , he has some credible movies and writing credits , but he was the weakest character in the 87 movie and people give him far too much credit towards writing in that movie . He barely done much input and I’m guessing it was the pussy jokes . He can’t act either so when he was tied to the 2018 movie ? I have no idea why people thought it was a good thing? That movie alone probably gave the original creators motivation to get the IP back 😁 .

I have no clue how much of the retconning the lore was black or someone else , but it was retarded . The next one would probably be much of the same . Shane flew too close to the sun and while it isn’t all on him? He peaked in the 80s and 90s

I won’t say he’s untalented, but I’ll say his writing credits consists of some fairly well known films. Not sure if there was star-power assoiated with it that made it successful.
Either way, I dont see this affecting PHG. PHG will have it’s own shelf life and that only depends on whether they can secure more people into playing the game. It could be a slow burn.

Regardless of the lawsuit , how can they be shocked if active players are low? No doubt covid impacted it and I can appreciate that . But wouldn’t that impact their schedule? How can that be blamed on the bugs ? I could accept its slower to do things but what they do put out? Its problematic . Its not quantity I have the main issue with , its the quality.

I keep wondering how many people are playing on what. The poll isn’t all encompassing but it does have the active forum users. That said, PC users dont experience any major frequent bugs that most console people experience.

Not necessarily, even if they win and get the rights back, Sony can easily make a deal with them - for that the game needs to perform better and bring players and money, so Illfonic will be forced to listen to us and implement changes we are asking for since April last year.

To simplfy this whole situation, its like owning a bakery and alot of your customers complain your products are too salty/sweet/bitter . Then your response to them is “but that’s the way we like them!?” , they shouldn’t be too suprised if customers stop giving them business
