This is true , but as far as not having the leverage to put a cease and desist? I imagine they would if ownership is reverted. But with something like this if they are successful? They can either negotiate a deal to be part owners with a higher return or they cant take it all and explore who and where would be interested in the IP . I could see them staying with Disney in some way and requesting more creative control , with them being such a massive distribution? They would want the comics and a name behind their IP.
I dont blame them for wanting some of the pie from an IP they created and sold off , I doubt they sold it for very much and they probably lost alot of creative control . But they did sell at the time to be devils advocate.
They very well would want their IP to continue to flourish because it would be retarded to cut any business strings tied to it that would be positive and generate income . On the other hand if they see it tied to something perceived as not so positive and isn’t generating a decent income? Who could blame them for pulling the plug.
Time will tell , either way we will all find out
