Honestly as much as I like GvK, rather fittingly the movie with the most inconsistencies and plot holes is the one everyone likes.
Why is it that Mark and his side of Monarch apparently doesn’t know shit about Apex, but the Team Kong guys are literally like, Monarch and they’re teaming up with APEX? What is the power structure of Monarch if Serizawa is gone? Why does Ren work for Apex, what is his motivation? Why is it that a guy who was EX-Monarch who is clearly backed by APEX able to convince Monarch to do this shit in the first place? Mechagodzilla and Kong Story was fine tho.
Plus it’s clear that there was a lot of deleted scenes since characters like Dr. Chen (Mothra Twin) were supposed to be in the movie, (included in Credits but nowhere to be seen) which would have coincided with the Mothra appearances in the film and by name.
Theres so much to pick at with this movie, but I still like it and its better than the zack Whedon josstice sneague
There are 2 prequel graphic novels for this film. One for each titular Titan. They may have some answers as to why Ren Serizawa works for apex, etc.
I seen that , legendary comics look pretty decent . I might buy them for my son . There is one with kong as a kid and one set between skull island and gvk
Just stay away from “Kong of Skull island”. Those have zip to do with the monster verse, they suck and even the art sux at times.

It was more painful than the scooby doo Apex stuff.
Hollow earth was terrible expanses of wasted emptiness and the magic blue lifeforce that powers the core of the planet now. And people just go down there and have a picnic when serizawa was literally dying from radiation in the last movie. They walk into the alien temple or whatever to the literal godzilla logo radioactive axe charger encircling the room. Oh yeah then godzilla just drills a hole there and watches scooby doo gang climb out. Wtf was this movie.
I still can’t believe the movie is resolved by them literally wandering their way into mechaGs control room and spilling the dead wife’s whiskey on a supercomputer disabling it while it was effortlessly winning 2v1. Not even a proper teamup.

Yeah, cuz there’s Kong: skull Island and Kong OF Skull Island. Purposeful misdirect into a crappy series. Look for the legendary or monster verse label for the good ones.
