Plasma Caster Aim Bug?

Is it my imagination, or is the plasma caster glitched? So far, every time I switch to it, I press aim and it switches back to shoulder cannon and gives away my position, but I can switch it back to plasma caster and aim it properly afterwards when I’m already getting my ass handed to me because I messed up my stealth.

I was trying to quick shoot the cannon and instead of going where the laser was at(FT) it went way off to the right and up. Super strange.

Weapons switch randomly sometimes. Really throws me off.
