Possible Nerfs, Buffs, and Fixes to both Predator and Fireteam

I am not a game developer by any stretch and balancing can be difficult in any game because of the amount of things needing to be thought of, but after getting to level 60, this is what I feel needs to be touched from the my experience thus far. I’ve played on PC, both as the Predator and Fireteam a decent amount.:

Unfortunately getting exact numbers is a little hard because the Predator doesn’t have a numbered health bar and weapon damage doesn’t have numbers unless you are the Predator and the Fireteam member pays attention to the health they lose.

Predator:

  • For starters, the combistick needs a definite nerf. The only builds I see nowadays, and we are only a few days into the game’s life cycle, is Beserker with a bow and combi because of the damage you can take (will take about later) and the damage you can do. It will down a soldier in 3 or 4 hits, depending on class, and the speed at which these attacks come is far too fast to even react properly. Maybe take the damage and speed down a little, nerf the throwing damage as well because its almost an instant hint whether its a hit to the head or body (I made this bold because this feels like the most pressing issue for Fireteam members. I cannot tell you the amount of times we got wiped because of a combistick rush)
  • Nerf the Beserker health pool, the movement speed and everything else is fine. Beserkers have far too much health that if they dive onto a team, with perks like Fearless and Impenetrable, they are will wipe a team with little effort.
  • Fix the hit registration on the plasma caster. Sometimes it hits and does proper damage and sometimes it doesn’t do anything unless its fully charged. Not sure how I feel with a fully charged plasma shot instantly downing people, maybe make it the charge take longer if thats the intention or nerf the damage a little if not.
  • Maybe make spotting harder, or nonexistent unless being aimed at with the plasma caster or bow, while the Predator is stealthed and standing still. I played with friends, stood completely still while invisible and they just happened to spot me on pure luck by spamming branches with pings.
  • Make the footsteps a little quieter if you aren’t the Beserker, and really quiet if you are the Scout. Going stealth as the Predator is basically useless because of all the different sound cues they put out.
  • The bow needs a little nerf, it does 47 damage without even pulling it back. If its going to almost one shot with a full pull back, then make it so it can ONLY do full pull back or nerf the damage non-pulled shots do.

Fireteam:

  • Nerf the minigun. It shreds way too much, and watching all 4 soldiers pull it out and melt the Predator is a little much.
  • Buff OWFL training. The damage reduction it offers is essentially nonexistent and not worth taking at the moment. You might as well go Support with Thick Skin if you want to try and be anit-Predator.
  • Buff Support a little, maybe a little more health or increased max ammunition. It starts with 175 health. Right now, the movement speed reduction and extra starting ammo does not beat the Assault’s 150 health pool, 10 gear points and 9 perk points. It is outshined by the other classes because of the lack of utility and the little extra health is next to useless when the Predator will still take you out in 5 swings with a combistick.
  • The XDB is buggy as hell. If you shot one shot, then two shots the cooldown on the next shot is ridiculous. Make it a 2 shot burst fire shotgun, full stop, if thats what it takes to fix the bugginess of shot speed. If its burstfire, it would be a decent choice, but right now the DJL and CS-12 outclass the gun by a mile purely because they work properly.
  • SMGs need a lot of love. It feels like I waste entire clips just on NPCs because their damage is such garbage. They feel like you are shooting the enemy, and Predator, with an airsoft gun. It could be the gun doesn’t feel strong but the damage output doesn’t feel there.
  • 7EN feels like it does way too much damage, even for a 50 caliber rifle. It will stop a Predator in its tracks. Drop the damage and and maybe fire rate.

Random Bugs:

  • There seems to be a weird bug with suppressed weapons where a constant firing sound can be heard by other Fireteam members coming from the users suppressed weapon
  • Predators sometimes get stuck on branches. I found that spamming the dismount button OR leaping away might help
  • Predators sometime get stuck in the ground, causing them to become instantly downed and killed.
  • Picking up currency, sometimes the prompt will become available again even though it was already picked up and the prompt icon will become stuck on the screen.
  • The Double Experience boost feels like it gives far more EXP than it should, my friend had it and was level 50 in 10 games or less. Not sure if the actual experience from everything is correct, or maybe the levels are way closer than I thought. I cannot be sure what is causing it, but its definitely an issue.

I am loving this game. I find it far more rewarding and fun compared to Friday the 13th and Dead by Daylight purely because there is so much more interaction between both sides. With some touch ups and fixes, this game has a lot of staying power with consistent content updates.

I don’t agree, buddy. I am not for the nerf of the stick, I am for raising the TOTAL arsenal of the predator to its level. It’s not enough to change the numbers, the point is not so much in the indicators as in the very concept of hunting.

Also, I do not agree with the minigun nerf. Minigun- LAST that causes problems for me as a player and for the community as a whole + -, problems are caused by sniper rifles and an infinite amount of health in a compartment with resurrection. You need to reduce the number of effective treatment, do not make the predator much stronger. but to make people more vulnerable, predators need tools, if you look at another Temko for my authorship and become familiar, it will be cool. I’m trying to gather people who are active on forums in one place so that developers pay attention to the community. Join in

I’m not sure what you meant, but the combistick is a fairly serious issue because of how common I any Predator run it due to its speed and take down power. The minigun becomes a real issue when more than one person has access to it. It shreds the Predator close range. I can agree that snipers need a nerf, specifically the 7EN like I said. It chunks the Predator’s health way too much.

Also not sure what you mean’t by “effective treatement” and “infinite amount of health in a compartment with resurrection”.

The combistick is a very easy to parry weapon so I think it’s well balanced there

The perry is like a half second prompt, and it doesn’t even work half the time. Plus the attacks are coming way to fast that even if I parry, the other hits are still going to get me.

First Aid Kits. A squad can, on average, bring to the level of 30 first-aid kits for 2 lives + first-aid kits on the map. + resurrection, this makes tactics-hit and run useless. You cannot exhaust them because your resources are super-limited, and with their supply of medicine they can hold out on the map for several DAYS.

The stick does not need a nerf because now it is de facto the only strong and convenient option for a predator to fight. It might be worth rebalancing a class that uses a stick too often - a berserker. Again, I talked about this in my topic. Classes are not now felt like classes. Scout does not exist in meta at all. Raising the combat options of a predator is necessary just as well as reducing the number of healing for a unit.

I’m not sure what having 30 health kits would do for the Fireteam. Sure they have alot healing options, but healing with a medkit takes ages and the Predator can get shots off with any ranged weapon whilst the soldier is healing. The amount of health kits isn’t much of a factor because there wouldn’t be a time to use all those kits.

If you are complaining about “ressurection” as in calling your teammates back, they NEED to have full health because the Predator can attack when the reinforcement call goes out. Giving them any less health would severely hamper any ability for the soldiers to fight back. Plus you only get ONE reinforcement per game.

The whole problem with the spear is exactly what you said, it is the strongest melee weapon by far and that by definition makes it convenient to use. The melee speed is way too fast and the damage is far too great. Even if you can get a parry off, that won’t matter.

The number of reinforcements per game does not matter. This resurrection is at best 3 out of 4 people. With full ammunition, hp and resources. First-aid kits do not heal slowly, you can reap them directly in battle and this will extend your life at times. The predator barely has enough resources for 4 people, and for 8 he will not have enough in any case. I’m not talking about removing the mechanics of resurrection, I’m talking about giving the predator the opportunity to defeat 8 people. Now there is no such possibility.

This is not a spear problem. This is the problem of the OTHER weapons that need to be pulled to its level. I will not run with a spear if I have a strong alternative. I would gladly run with an ax or a network gun instead of a spear. but I MUST take it to compete.

Using a first aid kit is a slow use interaction, unless you are talking about syringes but you don’t get those back unless you use a medkit on the map. Not sure what you mean by resources to fight 4 people. The point of the Predator is to slowly pick people off, whittle them down and execute them not fight the whole team at once. With the spear, the Predator can down 2 or 3 people and maybe go into second wind. Also what is an axe or “network gun”?

I think the bow has to be buff honestly, it is way much harder to use compared to any other weapon in the game and the slow debuff is insignificant. I think that from middle range at least it has to one shot. And I will add some nerf to recons and the total removal of reinforcements from the game.

Personally, I think I should lower the damage of melee attacks and add extra armor that will revive when not taking damage.
Predator shouldn’t be killed or killed in a single charge.

Syringes. I’m talking about syringes + first-aid kits that you can take with you for everyone. You cannot snatch people one at a time because you are killed in 2 lines. A predator needs ways to SHARE players. an axe is a club, a stick that no one uses, which throws out small prey by 3 blows.

Network gun is … ahem, I don’t know how in English localization a gun sounds that shoots with a net. I had to help myself with a translator and he did not really manage.

If the Predator charges into a group of people, he shouldn’t be able to wipe the whole team. Thats just unbalanced and wouldn’t give the Fireteam a chance to fight back.

As for bows, its way to easy just to “hip-fire” by not charging the bow up and landing a headshot which will do 100 damage to the soldier and over almost 60 damage via body shot.

The arsenal of the predator is terribly weak, it’s why you see the everyone use it because it’s the only one with a decent damage output.

Even then, it’s so easy to parry it’s laughable that you actually allow him to kill you in 4 hits.

Berserker is used because the other classes are significantly weaker, so why bother using them if you’re dead faster?

Minigun doesn’t need a nerf either, it’s incredibly inaccurate, makes the fireteam member extremely slow and it takes a few seconds for them to even start firing the weapon.

You want more weapon variation? Buff the other weapons, don’t nerf the only viable option as of now because you make the predator worse for everyone.

Should not, of course. But here is some kind of device or separation of players at the level of lvl design would be a good solution.

this game needs reworked a lot, a good fire team can take down any pred, and if they don’t they can still call in reinforcements, hunter and scout are completely unusable against a half way decent fireteam and berserker combistick is only over powered against a team that doesn’t know how to parie, parie renders every mele weapon useless as you watch your health deplete, I’ve stopped working on objectives and started hunting the predator because it’s faster to kill him than escape.

Fear use to run up my spine when I’d hear Jason’s music signifying he was near, I laugh and start hunting when I hear the predator near me.

I’m fine with a combistick nerf but I want to see the predators other weapons buffed. Elder sword and war club should swing faster sense they don’t have good range, his bow I personally would love not have to charge up, and maybe buff his plasma pistol damage a little because when I use it I feel like I empty the while thing into someone and they don’t go down. Also give the predator some more map knowledge like maybe the name of the mission the fireteam is doing? Would give the predator some idea of where to start or give him the location of the reinforcement radio. As for the fireteam I think they should nerf the mini gun I said this when the trial was going on but I think it should just be a gun found on the map kinda like a power weapon also enable friendly fire would stop the grenade spam and would certainly make fireteam more cautious about where they shoot instead of just spraying all over.

Putting the minigun on the map would actually be a decent idea, that way you don’t run into a 4 stack minigun team that shreds you. Also map knowledge would be hella useful because when you throw down a bear trap, you just have to hope someone runs into it and you can’t really use it with what was intended.
