Possible PSA: Smart Disk and Drops in FPS

This may be a PS4 only issue but, it seems the smart disk maybe the cause of some of the issues with extreme drops in FPS.

Since the 1.08 update, I decided to start using the smark disk as a viable side arm. Also since 1.08 I’ve had severe drops in FPS some match, as bad as 1 frame every 3 seconds. Doesn’t last momentarily either, it goes on for minutes at a time and can last an entire match.

I didnt make the connection at first, I assumed it was a general bug with 1.08. But it never happened at the start of matches, always after an engagement at least and trading blows with the FT.

Some matches I didnt get any drop in FPS, but the matches that it did drop. I noticed something after 2 days of playing. I had used my smart disk prior and hadnt yet recovered it. Every time my screen froze and fps dropped. I noticed the smart disk symbol on my UI (to tell me it was nearby) then I did matches without using a smart disk and didnt get any drops in FPS.

To test further I removed it from my layout. Over 20 matches later I didnt get a single drop in FPS and the game was smooth.

After that I put my smart disk back in my loadout. Second match, disk is stuck in a tree on derailed. Busy engaging FT so can’t retrieve yet. Moments later, huge FPS drop.

To me this is too much of a coincidence and does point to Smart Disk playing some part.

Anyone who plays Predator and has experienced a drop in FPS or general freezing. Tell me, do you use the disk? And what platform are you.

Gotta admit, this is something I noticed as well, even on the last patch. PS4 user and sometimes, (not all the time though, it’s actually quite rare to happen to me) I’d yeet the disk only to get huge fpa drops unless I dropped cloak or dropped heat vision.

I do remember one match where that had occured and not long after the fps came back, only for it to drop again after using the disk again.

Smart disk cursed, needs Holy water and exorcism

I tested your theory with the smart disc and same thing happened to me. I always had the smart disc in my loadout and I always had lag issues but now I removed it and I dont have any problems so far.

I use disc every game but I don’t see frame drops too often, I never take the disc off - it’s my favourite weapon. I’ll have to try this and see if it works though. Can’t have my disc bugged. Good find my guy.
