On PC you just buy the game. Can even play without the cable in “disconnected mode” though you will not get any score, but you can still use it to learn
With the mods you can use any audio interface (even use your own VST like Neural, Guitar Rig, AmpliTUBE, etc.)

I remember FoF, that was…an experience lol. But no, this isn’t the same thing. It basically takes the GH engine and UI and sorta remakes it into its own thing. Thousands of songs charted by capable people (not that horrible stuff found on FoF), a strong dev team, and you can use the actual GH/RB controllers. Give it a try sometime, you might like it.

By subscription I believe means to access all the songs available. Its kind of like RB’s season passes they used to do, not every song on the service is unlocked from the start. On PC I imagine through mods and whatnot you can just download the packs and call it good. I know they have an extensive custom song list, so getting it for PC is definitely worth it.
Oh I played nearly every GH and RB. It vastly improved my actual guitar playing in terms of dexterity and speed. I even got the RB drumset and the cymbals to learn drums. People shit on those games a lot, even legit guitarists, but there’s a lot you can learn from the plastic guitar.

TBH most DLC for RS2014 is shit. They don’t even have single Metallica song, which is bullshit.
Now with that mod I installed, I can get songs from nearly every band and even make my own, which is fucking awesome.
Now I just need to figure out how to make my own songs a paid DLC and get some money out of them lol

Ehhh…depends on what bands you want lol. I am pissy about the lack of Metallica; they’re my favorite band, and if they could get their songs into RS I would be on that in a heartbeat. I creamed my loons when they announced Guitar Hero Metallica, I never stopped playing that for months. I would love to have it for PC but mine sucks and I don’t have an interface.
dude… get a behringer UMC22… those boxes are dirt cheap. Got mine for like $40 on amazon. They don’t have an “official” ASIO driver for America, but they do in Germany, so, somebody leaked it and it works flawlessly.
I did manually added a lot of Met songs (and opeth, and trivium and a ton more) once I installed the single DLL mod. RSmods (dedicated mod software) added even more customization and corrected some shitty resolution glitches that kept crashing the game if try to launch the game in HD or above
I’ll let you know how it goes with the NUC, but judging by the system requirements, it will more than likely work. If it plays on that, it will play on any 3-4 year old basic desktop even without a dedicated GPU
BTW, got RS to work on a NUC 7th gen i3 with Intel Graphics, 8GB RAM
I don’t think any desktop computer could be crappier than that, unless is like 12 years old
