A user by the name of Frankvirginia, posted an idea on the patch notes thread about a way to improve on predator matchmaking and I would like to expand on that idea and how this could work in practice.
His idea is that a single match sees 5 rounds, where every player in that game gets a guaranteed turn at playing predator. And 4 rounds as a fireteam member.
This suggestion means that “a match” is everyone plays 4 fireteam rounds and gets 1 round predator each in a random order.
Anyone who simply quits after getting their predator turn either forfeits all xp gained, veritanium or both.
Anyone who is a good sport and lasts out all 4 rounds as fireteam as well as the predator round gets a 35% boost on thier final xp score and veritanium to increase the incentive not to rage quit or leave after getting your pred round.
I’m hearing loads of whining about matchmaking times as the predator and this could fix that.
As far as I can see there isn’t a problem with the matchmaking itself, it’s with everyone wanting to play predator. With 1 predator and 4 fireteam squad members per match there just aren’t enough new matches to place everyone as pred as everyone’s queuing to play predator only. I can get in a fireteam game in under 2 minutes, predator can take 10.
As with all asymmetric multiplayer games whether its splintercell multiplayer with everyone wanting to play spy, or resident evil resistance players wanting to play mastermind - everyone wants to be the badass villain and you can’t account for player preference.
But if everyone only wants play predator then there will be nobody to stalk and kill will there?
I believe this would work. Discuss.
