Predator: Badlands
i’m getting this impression that there is more fantasy with the film. Just my impression. More “Never Ending Story” vibes which i believe there was a CGI reference to it. Flying dragon dog from the film but it was just a random reference from what i read. The point is, Dan wants outliers that might gain interest from fandoms from other misc. fan groups of other films. I didn’t think he was that direct with it though.
The Rock Biter Cameo
Early in the film, a strange, massive creature appears in the background on a cliffside during the title card sequence. Trachtenberg confirmed this fleeting glimpse was intentional, referring to the creature as the “Rock Biter,” a direct nod to The Neverending Story .

I will cast doubt in the ‘explained in the movie’ And just because you don’t like what you’re hearing doesn’t mean its against a movie. They’ve done this to good movies as well, coming out with praise rather than criticism.
Or be in depth and thorough, bring up each point and talk about why its bad, what could be done about it, and things that’ve done it better.
Its not good. Its not even decent. You can enjoy bad things.
If there are legit creative reasons they make crit. then I would love to catch it in full. Becuase good and valid reasons to add to something, where the fail happens then I would always like to hear ideas BETTER than it was. I don’t need to hear about short comings. I want to hear about ideas. Better ideas is like a value statement. Just pointing out something bad is of no value because basically anything can be BAD for anyone for any reason whatsoever. THats what an opinion is.
The entire world we live in is full of shit opinions. Thats why we follow LEADERS. They have ideas to make it better. But if they offer NOTHING then they are just douces in a toilet pointing at other douces. What good is that?
SO you don’t want details or people to elaborate on their point. Just a quick bullet points.

Does it try to solve a problem or just point it out?
Anyone can say they don’t like something. Few can have a solution to it.
I would say if there is any value to a video, add THE SOLUTION!
Its not like they’re making stuff up. Ideas are all well and good, but execution is whats important. And its not about your opinion. Its about the movie. Not your feelings on the movie, but what the movie is. And you’ve fallen into the trap. “Don’t be mean, be positive.” As if blind positivity does anything except more crap.

So to make my point again clearly, sometimes AVPGALAXY blokes in their podcasts about ALIEN EARTH, they went into lots of shit about why they didn’t think characters were very convincing however their problem was that the characters actually were convincing in context to the story elements, pacing and ideas and concepts.
Their issues were that they wanted twice as much hours placed on character development. Which is not always budget friendly, but nobody knows how MUCH content is actually needed until executed. And although its always great to get more for little budget, you can’t always defend it because its JUST TOO LONG.
I don’t commend that either. This motif in podcast is strangely excessive defensive play. Now I don’t want to listen to people WANTING MORE of something because they too focused on it. Thats obsessive. But because if its executed with great detail and visual clarity, its just not necessary.
Commentators beware: If they don’t understand EDITING, then they can’t even edit themselves. Hence the deplorable 7 hour video that isn’t edited down.
Or they can just fuckn say “VIEWER DESCRECTION IS ADVISED. LOTS OF SPITBALLING WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING ANY FORMAT OF ANY KIND OF ANY MEDIUM WHATSOVER”.
To clarify, if each of those podcasters have a degree in something then its easier to understand what the point they are trying to make. Otherwise, no degree, means no real solution to the problem at hand. And a degree could just be a non-academic study in a particular medium.
Solution, scrap the movie and write a better one.
The characters in AE weren’t even convincing in context. If you actually watch that worthless show, you’ll see that basically no action taken was done for any reason other than the writers needed to get to the next scene.
I’d have settled for a scene of character development. ONE.
That’s fine. Wanting more, or closer to the source material, or their own headcanon is all opinion and feeling. If its executed with great detail and visual clarity, its not necessary. AE was not executed with any detail or any kind of clarity.
Its a live podcast. They edit their own videos, and they also make long videos because they go into great detail to make things clear. They even discuss editing if its a worthwhile point. But because you aren’t going to watch the video, you’ll never know.
Its not a video for people who get stuck in their feelings and can’t separate the subjective from the objective.
What’s your degree? If a degree is what you need to understand movies, you better have one yourself if you’re going to make these comments.

In truth, film commentary for me is usefull usually from the intellectual perspective. Deep think. Existential. However I don’t get caught up in what could have been rather I’d rather see Introspectives.
Not critiquing. Introspectives means that people found something enlightening about a particular piece of work. Sure one can be critical but being positive about something is better than pooping on it and stroking ones ego on making it better.
My issue with this video, maybe i’m wrong , but i’m under the impression that its like THE CRITICAL DRINKER. I don’t like his channel at all. Its not Introspective, its mindless ego in a negative light. I don’t know why people listen to his shit, maybe they were beaten as a child but it doesn’t help anyone and nobody gains. One does admire an asshole for pretending to be an IRISHMAN with an attitude for entertainments sake.
Its meant for comments from random strangers. Thats it. They want interaction and the two second response addictions.
If Badlands sucked balls, someone someday will make a better film to out do it. It may not be now. but one day. I mean I still watched Batman & Robin in the theatres and it was a fuckin gayass glory ride. It was balls. but Batman Begins came out eventually. I didn’t need to make a video on it.

They just did Goldbloom’s The Fly, and because its a good movie, its not being shit on all the time. But the video is longer than ten minutes so you wouldn’t like it.
CD has been a guest on their podcast before, but they’ve disagreed as well. I’ve seen some of his videos as well, far too focused on The Message than the content of the media. It helps that most stuff is shit so he’s usually right. And if more people listened and didn’t just clap along, we might get better stuff. And he’s actually scottish.

Yeah, but I don’t want just better than Badlands. I want to raise the bar back up. I want people to have standards. Predator is an actually good film, worthy of high praise, not just a nostalgia joyride. I want a sequel to come out that puts its gold medal to the test.
And some people choose to make youtube videos for a career. And they’re better than other popular ones, like Nostalgia Critic or Angry Joe.
