Predator is not underpowered, but Fireteams need tweaks

Through my first 40 levels, I was convinced Predators were a joke. Now that I’m consistently wiping Fireteams with Scout, I’ve somewhat changed my tune. I don’t think the problem with this game is an issue of Predator power level so much as it is Fireteam power level.

I do think Predator needs some tweaks though. Pig spawns should be a tad more plentiful and consistent near Fireteam objectives. It seems like I find 5 pigs having a picnic or no pigs at all. I also think Predators could use a bit more tracking, if just to improve consistency of engagement between Fireteams and Predators, which is where this game really shines. Lastly, every weapon aside from the Bow, Combistick, Net Gun, and PlasmaCaster is a bit lacking. There is wayyyy too much animation lock on the club, for instance.

For Fireteams…hoo boy. They have way too many health resources relative to their offensive capability. It should be one or the other: they either have a high offensive output potential with limited health so I can pick them apart over the course of the match, or they have a high healing capability but can’t bunker down, refuse to do objectives, and shred me in 10 seconds.

They also have a bit too much stamina relative to the Predator. I don’t think it’s at all realistic for a human to keep up with a Predator in a foot race, and reducing the stamina could be huge.

But I honestly think that’s about it. I don’t think this game is that far off from being really well balanced.

Edit: One thing I would add- If possible, it would be awesome if players that are eliminated from the game could leave immediately upon elimination and still get full experience. Queues are long enough as it is.

One of the best opinions I’ve seen yet, and spoken respectfully. I agree with your statement whole heartedly. I too have been down a good amount of fireteams, I think they need to tweak reinforcements.

I go back and forth on reinforcements. I get why it’s there, because a good Predator can wreck you in a hurry if you make one false step, and that wouldn’t feel great if you waited in queue and got dispatched in under a minute. But at the same time, Fireteams are strong enough that they are still totally viable without respawns. You could almost leave everything else as is (aside from Pred weapon tweaks) if you eliminate reinforcements.

Ya I see that, I had a game with 7 kill yesterday. I sometime struggle to Target Isolation a mudded up runner, but that’s a mechanic. I think just make the 15 sec heli arrival longer so I have a chance to catch up when I finally see the reinforcement icon.
