Predator tactics

After looking around I noticed some people are having some troubles playing as the Predator, except I also noticed some people making some major mistakes when it comes to the core of the game and the character itself: People are rushing in and/or doesn’t come up with a strategy when hunting the fireteam.
With the Predator you can’t just pick up a melee weapon and jump in the middle of the fireteam and expect to win in a gunfight, especially if you have Scout and Hunter. In the movie you didn’t saw the Predator jumping in front of armed enemies and tanking all the bullets while attacking them, instead he waited for a opening, attacked, retreat and kept doing it until odds where stocked in is favor.

So here is some tips I could gather:

Stalking: Keep watch on the Fireteam in their first base and just keep a slight pressure on them, try to take one of them down(no need to claim them) if the opportunity presents itself. Some times you can even find out player that often runs off by himself which you could already claim, forcing them to call for reinforcement or keep the odds against them(1 is all that needs to mess up their odds against you)

Opportunity: This one is important, you can’t try to fight all of them at once, instead watch them and wait, normally when they are fighting NPCs or running to the other objective they often split, and this is when you attack and claim one of them. Is you see someone alone, you quickly jump in and kill him, don’t expect him to be alone for very long because others will show up as soon as you start attacking the loner.

Weapons: Learn how to use the weapons and equipements to its fullest, like nets are pretty useful against miniguns, combistick with Zerk is overkill, Plasma Caster has a trick were you charge the shot away from a Fireteam but when you are about to fire you quickly aim back at them, traps are useful in trails or when one Fireteam member is down, sound distraction is useful to gather the fireteam at one place, bow is extremly useful when you want to keep your position a secret.

Positioning: You got to pick a place where you want to stay and watch the Fireteam, the closer you are the less you must move(crouching or standing still is when the Predator is less visible) and you must chose your moves wisely depending on how close to them you are.
Longer distance is good for Plasma shots or bow shots, this is mostly to keep pressure and to keep them on their toes.
Mid distance is for when you want to deal some good damage on them. I find a mid distance being a perfect distance to start to increase the pressure.
Closer distance is for two situations: You quickly got close to a Fireteam member to take one of them down or if you are commited to win the match. Don’t get close to trade attacks with a full Fireteam gathered and expecting to see you.

Don’t get cocky: If you took down one of Fireteam members and notices that the others are starting to closing in and focusing fire on you, don’t try to trade attacks or to claim, instead run away, if you get too injuried then run as far as you can until you are certain that they aren’t following you.
If one of them got up, don’t bother with it, you dealt damage and took away some of their time, that’s just as important.

(I do belive some weapons needs some sort of balancing, but is also up to the player to learn and how to properly use his gear to his favor).

So these are some tips that I learned from the game and belive that could help those having some troubles playing as the Predator. If anyone has some more tip to share, feel free to share it.

One flaw, claiming.

NEVER do it, a downed player is perfect bait, so leave him there and see what the others do. IF they leave him, claim. If the move in to res, leave him and use him. If someone resses, they are done for.

I would say it depends, using a downed team mate as bait in a camp raid is a pretty good tactic, since one of them will rush to the rescue and you can ambush them to deal some more damage. But claming one of them is a viable option when you want to force them to use reinforcement or when you want to stuck odds against them.
But both options are pretty good depending on the situation and the player, so it’s up to the play of what strategy they will make to take down the Fireteam.
