Hello folks,
As someone who is in college for Game Design, I figured I’d try to give some feedback on how I think the stealth mechanics for the Predator could be improved. I apologize if this has already been talked about/suggested. Playing on PS4.
Footsteps/Sound - The attenuation was already changed before but after testing with a friend, using a surround sound headset, I attempted to sneak around him while he was fixated on an audio decoy. I was crouched and cloaked sneaking through the bushes and he was able to locate me because he could not only hear my footsteps (crouched, full tilt on the stick) but also the direction and spotted me.
Suggestion - I believe the volume and distance of crouched footsteps should be less. I have not tested if the noise is proportional to your walking/crouching speed and if not I think it should be. Maybe add footsteps to Audio Decoys.
Cloak - You’re only completely invisible when standing still crouched or standing. Observant players can easily track a cloaked predator even at greater distances. I have been able to shoot and spot predators before by observing where they stopped moving and knew where they were even though I couldn’t see them.
Suggestion - Add an attenuation to the cloaks visibility based on distance and have walking speed or at least crouched walking affect the effectiveness of the cloak. Perhaps add a Vanish perk that keeps full invisibility for a short duration (1-2 seconds?) when the Predator moves after being stationary (maybe it could be a scout specific perk?). Maybe disable spotting on a stationary predator (not really sure about this)
On paper, this would mean a Predator could get closer to a fireteam without being spotted (patient predator = sneaky predator). Fireteam would still see moving branches but not the predator himself unless hes running. This would probably introduce other needed balance changes.
