It would seem as im jumping branch to branch, not sure if it has to do with doing it in rapid succession but eventually he just decides to jump down instead of on to the next branch. if i catch it in time mid air he will just fly back up. I’d really love him not to jump down without pressing the mapped command.

either that or he jumps but doesnt even make it to the next branch and just falls short
Same here, happens a lot. Way too often. Responsible for me losing a few games, actually. Instead of moving tree to tree, pred just gets stuck in place and eats damage for free. Not fun.
there are issues in general regarding trees. A very common one is climbing a tree and then the game drops you down unintentionally, but counts as if youre still on the tree, giving only options to drop down or jump, even though you are on the ground. I think your bug is related. The same “drop down” thing can happen while jumping between trees I guess.
Today I had a bug where I couldnt even climb trees. The option to climb didn’t come up at all. It went away after a while. I think theres many bugs related to trees atm.
