While I enjoy the smoother tree swangin’, I was hoping the patch would add the ability to leap up into a tree from the ground, instead of having to be near the trunk first. What do you guys think?

I think manual leaping is fine for this. Automatically jumping into any tree branch from the ground poses too many problems. You try to jump over a fence and end up in a tree for no reason.

Also I couldve sworn ive gotten a button prompt for branches before but I think its only in certain areas at certain heights which is fine.

You can do this. Just do a jump or a leap close to a tree and make sure the prompt shows up. Once it pops up, you need to trigger it. Then you literally are swept into the tree climbing state.
This will get you into the tree faster…i tried this once.

But its really not a big deal. a litttle tedious to make it a habit too.

Guys, this exists already. @ZillyWabbit

Look at a branch, and then press the prompt when it appears. If you’re on the ground beneath the tree, you will leap right onto the branch. You just have to be at an angle within view of the tree, near the base of it. I use it a lot to transition between running in the trees to regain stamina, drop to the ground to leap and cover some distance, then immediately transition.

I’ll have to try to look at a branch and see if I get a prompt. I know I can’t leap up on the base of the tree and get a prompt. I have to wait until I hit the ground again before it appears.

Rebind your jump/branch switch under predator controls to something of your choice. It’s the button to jump between branches and enter a trunk, so you can jump freely without mounting. I have mine bound to left alt.
