prey theory: bad blood

did anyone else think feral and his clan seemed more like bad bloods than honorable fellas? in general, every time i think about feral i end up finding a new reason as to why i think he’s a bad blood. to summarize;

-kills runaway cowering unarmed frenchman
-comes after wolves and stuff even though they’re clearly not a threat to a yautja
-clan is implied to try to kill naru when they come back instead of be honorable and reward her
-the desert yautja are technologically deprived when compared to normal yautja and the scout subspecies of yautja which were both still technologically advanced by this point
-desert yautja would in theory have contact with other normal yautja and be able to improve their technology; they have space travel but dont have plasmacasters (by the way, did they steal that shit?)
-desert yautja are from what we’ve seen entirely spacefaring; running away from the enforcers on yautja prime?
-feral not knowing how some of his tech works may be a clue that it isnt actually his but stolen from another yautja

Cloak seems like a pretty advanced tech. Shield seems primitive but it could be effective to guard/parry against PC from another pred or from wrist blades.

I doubt that he doesn’t know how the tech works. The mask is custom made for him and includes homing targeting. It’s just a bad plot point.

Your points are fair, but I’m not sure the screenwriters thought this much in depth about who Feral is. It almost seems like he has no personality planned, but we’re making one up for him by looking at his actions.

Was armed is the same as is armed by preds

A. Implied

B. No rule that says that to my knowledge

Explain please

Why the fuck do people keep saying this

Imagine your stuck on a bear trap and can’t get out

You have a Zip 22. The worst gun ever made known for malfunctions and unsafe use

Do you use the Zip 22 to defend yourself or just die?

Nah he’s a subspecies so own clan rules, like example Original Preds have honor code but Beserkers do not

You mean super preds?

Didn’t seem like a badblood to me. He spared naru when she was in the trap and didn’t kill her or her brother when tied up. If anything I just think he was a young blood that handn’t earned his plasma caster. Remember this is his 1st time on earth so if anything he was probably curious about things like the wolf and that’s why it bit him before he killed it either that or he’s just really inexperienced letting the wolf and bear both get a hit on him 1st.

Preds don’t have honor, the just go for whatever gives them the biggest thrill and adrenaline rush. They used advanced tech to kill less advanced species and creatures that have less strength, speed, etc., than them.

Here’s a couple clips I made from my man Roanoke who describes it fairly sufficiently

It’s not Predators first time, they said it was “this” Predators, also he was kind of busy killing people when naru broke free so ya definitely not honorable one

Prey takes place in 1719 and shows a new look for the Predator underneath its mask. There is also more to separate the film’s Predator from past versions, with director Dan Trachtenberg confirming that Prey shows the movie’s specific Predator (Dane DiLiegro) making its first trip to Earth.

Psh your boy don’t know shit, acidglow is where it’s at for all your Predator lore needs 😎

As admitted by venom

A pred hunting armed people is dishonorable?

Jesus christ

Honor isn’t about making fights equal

That’s a concept made by modern losers who can’t handle the fact that they can’t win everything

Honor is about proving yourself to be the better man which changes drastically culture to culture, and can really only definitively stick to keeping your word.

Especially when you understand that Preds are supposed to be honorable hunters, not honorable warriors, which is entirely different to what we’ve had in history.

Oh I thought he said they were unarmed?

arent berserkers considered bad bloods by the honorable ones? im pretty sure, in general, if a yautja breaks the code they get snuffed by enforcers

bad blood clans exist, and they still get killed off by enforcers

the french runaway had a spyglass and then he booked it and he was never shown attempting to kill feral or engage in any sort of fight in general

in pretty much every predator comic, if a yautja’s clanmate dies, they take the corpse of the clan member, give a souvenir to the killer, and then fly away. they show respect to the better warrior and accept that they’re better off not coming after them

by this point in the predator universe, all yautja have armor, plasmacasters, wrist bombs, everything they have in present predator comics

im not talking about the stepping on a bear trap part, im talking about how he was completely unaware of how the tracking of his arrows worked 80% of the time he used them. the only time he actually used them correctly was when his darts were aiming directly at the comanche

i mean… at least jungle hunter had the decency to uncloak when he was fighting close-range. feral killed like 3 comanche while cloaked, with a huge separable spear, while they were all armed with sharp sticks. he didnt try to give them any sort of chance whatsoever

when naru was breaking free from the tree, feral killed an unarmed french guy

when naru was breaking free from the fallen tree, the one where the comanche squad was, feral killed three comanche with his high tech weaponry while cloaked

bad bloods kill the adrenaline inducing ones without giving them any sort of chance, honorable ones give the adrenaline inducing ones a chance. even with their advanced tech, when fighting in close-range combat, they typically prefer less destructive weaponry as to even the odds a little

im pretty sure the only reason he spared naru was because the french were like 2 seconds from discovering he was directly in front of them, if they werent there i have no doubt he would’ve decapitated her like nothing

i mean i know he’s probably not intended to be a bad blood, but it makes sense if he was a bad blood because of the state of his technology and hunting methods

but of course, no predator movie wants to properly execute predator-predator conflicts anymore
