Even PS5 4K is upscaled. The PS5 lacks the processing power (Teraflops) to generate 8,294,400 pixels (4K) at 60 FPS. It can run native 4K at 30 FPS. At 60 FPS resolution is actually 1440P upscaled to 4K using several technologies similar to AMD’s FSR and Nvidia’s DLSS.
PS5 Pro is the first console to be able to run native 4K at 60 FPS
PC GPU’s have been able to run native 4K @ 60 FPS for years now (since like 2018), but it has always been dependent on how well optimized a game is.
This game until version 3.0 was basically unplayable at native 4K. And even at resolutions as low as 720P it had several performance issues that made FPS very unstable, going from over 100+ FPS down to 30 in an instant.
New version is better optimized and the FPS is much more stable, but it still struggles to do 4K even on a modern GPU like an RTX 4070
