So I know next to nothing about the gaming industry, but I do know games that beta test updates and patches with the playerbase before release.
I get that in the first year updates had to be kinda frequent with this game and there was a hard time table to manage, but judging by the roadmap they released they’re gonna throttle things down a bit in the future at least for a little while.
I think it would make sense to grab a bunch of players (forum, reddit, wherever) and have them quality and balance test new patches. Make them sign NDAs if you have to in order to prevent leaks of upcoming content but seriously. It would go a long LONG way towards balancing the game. Updates like this one are a good example, the fireteam got a great new mechanic that I think if the game were balanced better would make it really interesting and fun to play. However with the current balance of the game, it literally makes it next to impossible to be effective as the Predator. I don’t know how that was missed in testing, but it was proven really, really quickly by the player base. So maybe use the player base a bit more to help balance in testing.
Just a thought…dunno how it would work or if it’s possible but…throwing it out there.
Public beta test for patches
Shit, I’ll playtest their bright ideas for free 24/7 if it’ll save the community from going through the current nightmare again in future updates.
Sign me up, let’s Make Predator Great Again.
That’s the spirit! I think it’d be great to put the patch through it’s paces for a week and come back to them with “This is too much here. This needs a little buff. This idea didn’t work like you intended because this” so on and so forth. Ultimately they decide to take the feedback but they get the perspective from a small sample of the player base before they drop it and hear people screaming “UNPLAYABLE” every update
I love this Idea! I’d like to help too!
I’d tag the King and his courier in the original post👍🏼
I try not to bother them. I trust them in their jobs to peruse the forums and pass along good ideas.
😁
Well, this latest update is proof that nothing we say, recommend or suggest here gets considered seriously. Otherwise our favourite Yautja would have new tools, new perks, a 4th Perk Slot, better damage resistance, no bugs…and I could type on and on…
I wouldn’t call it proof. I like to think they just didn’t have Preds stuff ready and figured they’d roll FT side out for testing and reaction. I am very very much into benefit of the doubt.
I support this idea. Especially with the changed schedule of content release, potentially more quality content being dropped instead of monthly drops, we could see about testing the game ourselves.
Because let’s be honest. Illfonic can talk about QA and stuff but that absolutely doesn’t excuse the rampant bugs that were introduced in Patch 2.08, and the bugs that have remained in the game since Launch/subsequent Patches.
EDIT: It isn’t my intention to hate or be unnecessarily rude, but I believe it to be fair criticism when practically nearly every Patch had something wrong in the code that just messed the game up. And ironically enough, always for Predator.
